She went so far as to bite the whole ball, as tho she was going to walk away with it. I think it was to big for her. She snuggled up in it and enjoyed herself.

Welp..

I have been bad and watched that auction and I can cleary see it has not been purchased. So if he didn't get it by now I doubt it would arrive in time. SUCKY! (this is in reference to the previous post).

In knitting news I worked for 2 hours on the multidirectional scarf thingy. It's a real joy to knit. I had forgotten sence I hadn't worked on it in a while. I didn't get home till like 7 or so, and I spoke on the phone for a while with a crafty friend whom I have known on and off for many years. She & her fiance just moved about 1 mile away, so she wants us to get together more.

We plan on taking a sewing class together in January and I already have a project picked out thats perfect for me. I love making blankets, I like enbroidering and designing colors. I can use some patterns from the sublime stitching kit (I ordered the 4 pack deal from her website and OF COURSE got the cute knitting one).

I have lots of ideas for blankets, I could make one for all my family memebers. I have to finish their scarves first though!!!! I plan on taking all the yarn I had gotten to make scarves for them with me when we go up for XMAS and I'll make them on the drive and while I'm at my parents! I just like the simplicity of the Martha project. The single colored designs on each block makes it easy to make a nice colors scheme. I probably would pick two colors and be more monocromatic with it.

HANUKAH is in just a few days!! I learned from a women from Isreal that they don't give "presents" for HANUKAH, they do give money but mostly they eat oily food because of the symbolism of it, but I wasn't able to hear the story because it was raining and we had to get into our cars.

Birthday Request

So far i got a gift from my sista' in the mail.

I requested a single knitting gift. I wasn't going to request ANY knitting gifts (A spinning wheel would simply cause me to spend more money which I dont need to do) so sence I COULD THINK OF NOTHING to ask for my birthday (except a new computer) I asked for this:

I got it in the center icey color-way (Water-Lilies). It should match the bedroom I think. If I like it well enough once it's done (FO's you say?? Where??) then I could make up my own color-way for the living room, and MAYBE ONE DAY MAKE THEM for my sister and mother. Lots of future FO's this girl has in mind, but WHEN will she do it?? ACK!!

So a nice start to my birthday, please all cross your fingers and hope my husband orders me the kit. We can all spy on that auction to see...

In other news here are the paint colors for the bedroom. The SAND is for the bedroom walls and the MOON ROCK is for the bedroom. I'm not 100% about the sand but I got a little can of each one to test it out with. Also the MOON ROCK is a bit more green and faded out in reality.

Worse then crack

Here is my latest stash enhancments. Thread for embroidering. A bobbin winder which STINKS and doesn't work at all. Lime tictacs (score!) and lots of nuetral wool-ease for making some of those knitted toys. I simply ADORE that book. I think I'm going to make a cat toy first just to learn, and my new embroidery skills will come in handy for making the faces!

Worse then crack

My husband claims we had a tree in this house already but I don't recall it at all. Scarey huh?

It needs to be mowed pretty bad... But I got the pine straw layed in the front beds so things don't look to bad.

Koigu

I saw the prettiest scarf/thing (really big scarf) done up on needle size 3 using Koigu. It took 10 skeins (=$100) so I just got 2 skeins (=$20) to make a nice scarf with. It was SUCH a pretty color.

I have never tried this yarn before but I have heard mention of it on many other blogs.

Phildar, how I want thee

Well we all know how impossible is it to get Phildar in the states. I noticed something interesting when checking out the only website I know of that carries the mags. This stuff isn't even up on phildar.com that I can find. I wish it was so i could see all the patterns.

Phildar Irlandais #417-French Only 2004/2005

I REALLY want to see the inside of that one. Check out the inside from this rogue link I found.

Sexy knits for men: Phildar Homme Attitude #418-English 2004/05

Update: Linkage, WOW very impressive manly knits

I am very depressed that I don't speak french.

what a world we live in...

Today I read about a man who gunned down 6 people in the woods, I read about a mother who cut off her 6 day old baby's arms, and I read about hate.

I had no idea that many people in this country still had such malice towards blacks. I also didn't realize there was still hate crimes against Jews.

Sometimes I want to throw up from how sick our world is. Sometimes I want to ball up and cry over how cruel humans can be towards one another.

There are bad people in this world, and good people. The color of their skin and the religious beliefs that they hold have nothing to do with how good or bad they are. Stereo types are often based on something that happens and happens a lot. So yes I acknowledge that that's why stereotypes exist. But to put everyone into one big bucket and label them the same, assume they are the same, and treat them the same is WRONG.

Yesterday my mother got punched in the face by a 12 year old boy. My mom works in one of those juvenille detention jails. She has a gaurd with her at all times and she teaches a class so the kids can get an education. That kid had no good reason at all to hit my mother, but he did it. Because he had hate in his heart.

We have to stop breeding hate. I hope I have 10 children and I hope they make the world a better place.

Well after seeing a turtle someone had knit from this book which I have had on my wish list for a while, I took the plunge and ordered it.

knitting is rough...

I had to loose about 2 inches.. i made the mistake of playing the new release of Counter Strike while knitting. I don't see how you reading knitters do it.

I spot something strange!

Um... thats a really weird loop, I don't have a clue how to fix something strange like that. DANG IT!

Clover has some interesting new(?) needles called flexies. They have the plastic at the ends like they are going to be circulars but instead they end with a little wooden nob on the end. It's so if your knitting something big like a blanket, you don't have to be on circ's, but you don't have to carry the weight of the yarn on the needle. I thought it was pretty cool!

The devil made me do it. Hey, yarn shopping makes ya hungry!

Vera Bradley (.com)

Well after I think 4 or so months my Vera has started to show wear and tear. With my recent good experience with Choise Tea's (I emailed them to say I liked their tea and they sent me a free pack of all the flavors) I thought I would visit Vera's website and see if I could email them. I couldn't find a general contact email, so I clicked on the FAQ and found this information;

"Since Vera Bradley is a wholesale distributor, we are unable to handle consumer claims directly. We rely on our retailers to assess individual problems and relay them to us. We suggest that you return to the store where your purchase was made, so they can inspect your product issue. The store should be happy to help and to handle your claim appropriately." (I got mine in Ohio at an airport durring layover)

"Most of our loyal customers tell us that, with regular use, their products may show signs of wear after 6-8 months (longer with some pieces like luggage, which are used on an occasional basis). Normal wear is often apparent at stress points such as corners and handles. A reputable tailor or repair shop in your community should be able to make basic repairs to your handbags at a reasonable cost."

The second paragraph is very telling. So a $60 dollar bag on average holds up for about 6 months! How nice. I mean really who wants to walk around with a broken bag? My issue is on the top corner where the zipper comes in on the side, the zipper where it was sewn in underneath has a sharp edge on it and has started to poke through. I caught my finger on it this morning when it brushed by and I must say it hurt. I have the Villager in Chocolate. Very disapointing.

I still love my Vera, because it's so nice and light and easy to carry, but it's WAY overpriced if thats how long it lasts before wear and tear appears. Jansport makes a better product.

gee wiz...

3 hours later I have 332 stitches cast on and 1 1/2 rows complete in k1p1. No photos till I get atleast an inch! Eek! It's after midnight!!! TO BED!!

this week

I have noticed in more then one blog that a lot of us grrls are experiencing our "time" this week. I guess we are all on cycle with the moon or something wack. I stayed home yesterday after waking up in awful stomach pains, then rounded the day out with a nice head ache. I did knit a lot tho! That was nice to do.

I think I am going to use the multi-directional scarf as a gift this holiday, but who should I give it to?? Anway's I'm excited to start my husbands sweater however I hate how in stst when you don't work on something for a while and come back to it, you get like a line where you can see it was on the needles for a while. Kinda annoying. I am on a complete sugar high right now and I have an odd urge for hershy's kisses.

Cheap Flights Via Qantas Airlines

Qantas Airlines if having a fantastic sale on it's tickets. Buy one get the 2nd ticket half price (round trip). DH and I are going to Austrlia in february and my dad called to let us know about this deal. We had been waiting to buy tickets hoping for something like this. Great deal! Only problem is when DH ran the credit card through the website, he got a blank page. Stupid websites, Qantas's is no exception. It's a fantastic example of bad web design.

So if you where looking for a cheap flight to somewhere in that part of the world, check out the sale

I am in hell

I worked on my scarf and I worked on the tank I'm makin with the cotton fleece my SP3 gave me. So then just about an hour ago I thought I would re-swatch for Chamonix sence I got my smaller needles. On size 2 freakin needle I am still at a little over 6 stitches per inch. I need 7, this is crazy!!! A sweater knit on 1's??? for a guy, thats a huge sweater. I'll go nuts!!!!!! AHHH!?!?!?! I must be doing something wrong.

It says 28sts and 38 rnds over st st using neddles in US size 3 = 4". Now I am not doing the swatch in the round, but I wouldn't think it would make a huge difference..

Notice the bandaid, owey.

A poem from my DH

I called him and I was very whiney and he is not good at phone conversation and I wanted him to get me talking, but he just woke up (yeah 2pm, lucky him) so he had nothing to say.

So after we got off the phone he wrote me this peom:

I love my [pixie], together we eat sushi.
We show our love by hitting eachother's tushy.

My girl is better than me, to give me a character goal to strive for.
I buy her gifts, and say nice things hoping she'll feel loved more.

What would I do without my [pixie]?
Tis proposterous, she's my love candy!

I love you baby, hang in there, day's almost done.

Your husband

ouchies!

I managed to give myself a paper cut, and a good one to. I can't tell you how dorky I felt when I was relieved it was not one of my "knitting fingers" lol. Well technically I do use that finger; I just don't use the top of it where the cut is.

Friday makes me happy

Welp it's friday and this girl is thrilled. I hardly had any time at all to knit this week. Something to do every evening. I tried spinning again the night before last and it was a complete disaster. I have a horrible time drafting the yarn. I can't get it to stretch out easily, so I wind up with these huge slubs. I am not going for the fancy yarn effect here people!!

So I'm gonna try again this weekend and work on my diagonal scarf and IF I feel like it I will work on Fitz's sleeves.

I hate PMS, I feel bloated and angry. When I feel bloated any pants that fit even remotly sunggly drive me nuts. The feeling of the jeans pressed against my stomach and my crotch makes me want to break things. Am I weird?? It's like I want to run around in pajama pants for a week. I get all evil to if I have to put pants on when I am feeling that way. Anways enough about that.. I'll just sit in missery and wait for it to come while KNITTING!!

Exciting things tonight!

Well I SHOULD be going to Yoga but I hate that Yoga class. I NEED to make myself do yoga with the Ashtanga DVD I got. Need. Self. Discipline.

I can't recall how in the world I got this places name, but "Hidden Haven Farm" is only a few miles from my work and I had been emailing the owner(?) back and forth asking about spinning. They have a $5 spindle for begginers and some good newbie rovings, as well as raw wools. Sounds like they have sheep.

If you make a purchase they will show you how to use everything and they have Louet which from what I can tell in blog land seems to be what everyone starts out with, but not what they wind up with. I think I would still prefer an ashford, but lets not worry about wheels yet shall we?

So I got directions and I'll be heading over around 5:30 to get a drop spindle, some roving and a lesson. Maybe I'll find a good extra something for my SP3! OH how exciting!

pixiepurls search referrals

I found this interesting when looking at my referrals today. If you search on google for Dale Chamonix I am the 3rd top site!

There was this weird one

Then this one which is so VERY amusing because I type so bad, but hey I was number ONE!

I was third for this pattern.

and this wonky one - it's so funny to see which searches I come out on top of.

Multi-directional Scarf

Well the popular diagonal scarf that has been floating around blog land is now mine to make! We can afford nicer yarn when we don't have to buy patterns, eh?

As the world turns...

Last night DH and I watched "Super Size Me" which I have to say, I never want to eat macdonalds food again. I love burger king, I wonder if it's equally as bad.. probably.. DANG NAB IT!!

I love this Choice Organic tea, that I found the other day. I have been drinking the Earl Gray - "Brisk and smooth organic teas from India and Ceylon, enhanced with essential oil of bergamot. An environment-friendly rendition of a traditional favorite."

They are the first tea in America to have Fair Trade.

After reading this article yesterday, and watching Super Size Me, and Fahrenheit 9/11 I have to say, I'm very depressed. Not just depressed about america, but about the whole world. The world is a bunch of big corporations, knowingly doing the wrong thing. If they claim they don't know, they are in denial.

"Global warming is heating the Arctic almost twice as fast as the rest of the planet in a thaw that threatens millions of livelihoods and could wipe out polar bears by 2100, an eight-nation report said on Monday."

I hope that in the next 5 years there is a hybrid SUV (the element maybe??) and I swear if they come out with one and I can afford it, I'm going to buy it. DH and I both have no idea if the small things we could do would really help the world, but it can't hurt to try. So we are going to try. It's going to take a lot of effort, but we are going to work on it.

In other news, hobbits are real.

Original Source

"You cast on an even number, then it goes: knit one, bring yarn forward between needles, slip the next stitch as if to purl it, put the yarn to the back Repeat that whole set of things across ending with the slipped stitch. Start again on the next row."

It's the holdays and everyone wants to make scarves!

Well this weekend I went to a southern living party. I bought a decorative bowl that will match *the chair* which by the way should come this month!!

After the party I went to my LYS so one of my co-workers wanted to come with me. She's going to make some scarves for her nieces. That's 3 women at work now whom have started knitting! I think 2 of them have been bitten permenently! I don't know what I never think to take pics with my phone cam with me... I'm a dolt!

I stopped by the bookstore on the way to the movies and I have to say I'm really disappointed in American knitting mags. The design's this holiday looks so 1980's to me. The cover of vogue with the hearts on the black. I'm just not big on putting hearts on clothing... the curly bell sleeves I have been seeing, bleh. I think the spinner’s mags have better designs! At least they are timeless.

November 07, 2004

Perty stitches..

dang.. this pattern would have been perfect for my scarf! Oh well, to late now.. I would knit it up in Stellar.

That's one cool stitch..

We just came from seeing "The Grudge", I sucessfully did not look for half the movie. If you hated the ring, don't go see it, if you loved the ring, go see it. 2 minutes till monday!

is tommorow really monday??

Ah.. sunday..

so the MIL came over today and the first thing she said was "Boy you look really tired!" Gee thanks, do I look tired? That's so great! I have made it a point not to tell people they look tired, it only makes them feel MORE shitty then they already felt.

Then she procceded to tell me that she would come over one saturday (pointedly when the DH was at school) and help me clean out the garage, because she knows I "won't let her do it by herself". Ya know, it's my greatest fantasy to have my MIL go through all my garage and see all my crap and organize it for me. It's a true fantasy of mine. Whats more of a fantasy, would be doing it WITH HER. I would love for her to find dirty underweaer and blankets with cat barf on them. That's just gonna be so much fun!!

I didn't even know what to say. I just stared at her dumb founded. How do I handle that one? Okay sure it would be nice to clean out the garage but I tell ya what, I want my husband to be there.. so I don't know what to do.. I have no idea how to handle this one. how do you kindly tell someone you don't want their help?? Plain truth is I don't know how to say much to that women. She scares me.

November 05, 2004

A LYS'in we will go!

I got the US2 circs I needed and then grabbed stitch markers, counter, stitch holders... etc...

Plymouth Yukon Print - 35% Mohair/35% Wool/30% Acrylic; Color #2001

It's new and it's gorgeous.

I got it at Cast on Cottage, as usual I had a negative run in with someone. The owner actual has been very nice to me the last 2 times I have been in, so I was feeling a lot less negative about the store in general.

Today the lady working the counter got attitude with me, reflecting on it while driving away I realized she probably was doing it because I dismissed her recommendation for a larger needle size.

If someone mentioned to me they where going to do a stockinet scarf... I probably would ask, "Have you ever made one before" and if they said no then I would inform them that it curls. I actually meant to say Garter but it came out of my mouth as Stockinet, and I was like, oh yeah I meant Garter... then she suggested the larger needle size and I said no I wanted to stick with the 15's the yarn suggested.

So first she's telling me how to knit, then she's telling me about how not having my signature on my credit card was bad etc... and I listened to her and agreed she made a good point about why I should sign it. Someone else could steal it, sign it, and then it would be easier for them to use it. She herself said they don't often ask for ID. So that kind of muted her point, but I was trying to be very open to it all. Then she made the comment "I don’t know if we can take unsigned cards here" which well my card has been un-signed for 5 years I thought that was weird of her, she was standing next to the owner.

I don't think the owner was paying attention. I was fuming by this point, the WHOLE reason I pulled out my unsigned credit card was because I know my Debit card never works on there stupid 1980's piece of machinery. I THOUGHT I was being helpful, and instead I got reprimanded and then she ACTED like she wasn't even going to take my card. At this point I was totally ready to say, KEEP ALL THIS I DONT WANT IT AND IM NOT COMING BACK EVER. But then she cooled off and didn't say another word. Maybe she could see my extremely pissed off face.

So the owner being nice to me will be the only reason I will return.

more fun with in laws

So my MIL (mother in law) left me a message this morning, letting me know she had talked to DH and would be heading to our house on Saturday to retrieve some table leaves.

It was very nice of her to call and let me know because my husband never lets me know these things. One thing irked me about it, she said "I know you like to be given noticed when someone comes over, so I hope that’s okay, I just wanted to let you know".

Of course I take this slightly personally because that's how we take anything our in-laws say to us. That's just the way the world works. I was thinking to myself, isn't it polite to let ANYONE know before you come over? As in anyone in the whole wide world would appreciate that and I'm not some weird freak who is asking for anything to terribly crazy.
All that aside I am so very glad she called and now I have several days to put the house back in order. We get to show off our new decorations! Hopefully we can take back the TV we bought (her wedding present to us) and get a non-HDTV, or maybe two for the same price. HDTV is a pain in the ass and a joke. Only really rich people who don't mind buying 9238490283487324 services would ever bother... Dish Networks only has 9 stations that are HDTV, so tell me what is the point of owning an HDTV? Everything else that doesn't come in HD looks all pixilated and worse then a NORMAL TV!!

---------------
On the knitting front, I am at row 26 in the Alien Illusions (SnB) scarf, I continued to remain in sleeve island on fitz (I have been banished there for a while I think..) and then I ATTEMPTED to finish up the back to the Sirdar Sweater, but I know I screwed it up. When I first did the front peice I did it backwards so the ribbing on the one shoulder is on the wrong side, so now I have to figure out how to swap the pattern for the front, without screwing it up.. I am sure I messed it up so I'll be frogging 2 inches atleast.. GRR!!!

ohhhhhh goodies!

I open the box.. suspence!

Ohmygosh how cute!!! Yes thats my husbands leg, I made him come watch me open it. He was very impressed!

Inside there was a fantastic braclet, I am guessing it was made by my SP3, such cute handcrafted goodness!

A proper photo of the braclet..

Now I would SWEAR that this little cute container(?) smells of a very yummy insence.. ever so faint when I smell it. Not sure what possesed me to smell it in the first place..

The cat sniffed it like mad to..

So this was I believe the last gift from my SP3, and once again she out-did herself and it's all color coordinated.. I just love this gift.. so very special to get something hand crafted by someone else! I love the little jar, and it's going right on my desk, I even like the colors. My husband seems to like it to (I think the purple won him over). The braclet matches hehe... I love a splash of color but I like more muted tones, and this is perfect.

THANK YOU SO MUCH MY SP3.. ehem.. whomever you are?? ehem??!!! I have loved everything, I only hope my SP3 is half as happy with what I have gotten them. YOU SO RULE! THANK YOU 9713819082309823 times over!

I hope..

rebecca is in the mail today. word is my sp3 sent me something to.. yay for mail!

Tommorow is election day!

First I want to briefly talk about the election. This is the first time me and my husband will have ever voted. Last election I was disgusted... this year I got motivated. I have to honestly say that The Daily Show has been part of my motivation. It got me interested in politics.

Pretty much right off the bat I was interested in Kerry. I wouldn't say I am 100% behind the man, but I never liked how bush and his team seem to like to make laws that change the constitution or effect it in ways I don't like. I particularly didn't like bush's want to create of gender-biased marriage laws. I just think if people aren't hurting people, leave them the heck alone and let them do as they please. I believe in FREEDOM above all things.

I think both men are very guilty of flip-flopping, and both men are guilty of skewing the facts.. but I still like Kerry better. I don't care for Edwards at all. Simply based on how he brought up the whole Chaney's daughter thing, I thought that was soooo crass. Believe it or not, no one I know in my family knew about this daughter.. if you ask me he hurt their campaign when he said that. Then he said some stuff that contradicted the fact that I thought they didn't mind gay/lesbian marriages. I have to say all that really pissed me off. FLIP FLOPPERS! So I dislike Edwards, but I also dislike chaney so what's new.

I have been AMAZED by all the anti-bush/pro-Kerry people we have here in the knitting blog world. It makes me feel less alone because most people don't tell you who they are voting for.

Anways.. GO VOTE! I don't care who ya vote for just vote!! TOMORROW! YEAH!

On the knitting front I really want to cry. I messed up cozy, I don't know when I did it, but I did.. somehow I have less stitches.. fitz's first sleeve is half done. I really hated knitting last night (*gasp*), it's just so dang hard sometimes! Its not that it's hard to do, just hard force yourself to keep going after you royally screw yourself.
