As the world turns...
Last night DH and I watched "Super Size Me" which I have to say, I never want to eat macdonalds food again. I love burger king, I wonder if it's equally as bad.. probably.. DANG NAB IT!!
I love this Choice Organic tea, that I found the other day. I have been drinking the Earl Gray - "Brisk and smooth organic teas from India and Ceylon, enhanced with essential oil of bergamot. An environment-friendly rendition of a traditional favorite."
They are the first tea in America to have Fair Trade.
After reading this article yesterday, and watching Super Size Me, and Fahrenheit 9/11 I have to say, I'm very depressed. Not just depressed about america, but about the whole world. The world is a bunch of big corporations, knowingly doing the wrong thing. If they claim they don't know, they are in denial.
"Global warming is heating the Arctic almost twice as fast as the rest of the planet in a thaw that threatens millions of livelihoods and could wipe out polar bears by 2100, an eight-nation report said on Monday."
I hope that in the next 5 years there is a hybrid SUV (the element maybe??) and I swear if they come out with one and I can afford it, I'm going to buy it. DH and I both have no idea if the small things we could do would really help the world, but it can't hurt to try. So we are going to try. It's going to take a lot of effort, but we are going to work on it.
In other news, hobbits are real.

thanks for the tea link!!! yum!
yeah, there are tons of little things you can do to save energy and that is good overall. less energy used = less coal burned in power plants = less mercury emissions, etc. In my area you can elect into a plan where part of your energy comes from wind power. it costs a little bit more, but i changed my refrigerator settings and now my energy bill is still less than it was before i did the add-on fee and i am getting a larger percentage of that power from wind. prett cool.

yes, yes, the situation of the world today seems very very dire. even so, as the whole world continues to carry on as nothing is wrong, i pride myself in trying to change things. the best way to change things is to set an example!
also thanks for the suggestion of the tea! i will have to check it out!

Have you read fast food nation? it is quite depressing as well...

Keep your chin up, sweetie. Thanks for the links, mostly for the tea link (give me tea and wool and i'm one happy chica)
I've read Fast Food Nation, I'm so glad I did. I haven't eaten fast food in a very long time, but when I saw Super Size Me I was revolted to think back on all those years when it was practically the only thing I was scarfing down.
Another good book, since we're on the subject, is Slaughterhouse, by Gail Eisnitz. You'll likely never want to eat meat again, but it's a good one to read if you are ready to take an honest look at our meat industry here in the States. I don't think it's anti-meat so much as anti- corporate-irresponsibility, although I have been attacked as an ill-intentioned "hay-muncher" for recommending it in the past.
