I am in hell
I worked on my scarf and I worked on the tank I'm makin with the cotton fleece my SP3 gave me. So then just about an hour ago I thought I would re-swatch for Chamonix sence I got my smaller needles. On size 2 freakin needle I am still at a little over 6 stitches per inch. I need 7, this is crazy!!! A sweater knit on 1's??? for a guy, thats a huge sweater. I'll go nuts!!!!!! AHHH!?!?!?! I must be doing something wrong.
It says 28sts and 38 rnds over st st using neddles in US size 3 = 4". Now I am not doing the swatch in the round, but I wouldn't think it would make a huge difference..

try it in the round, you might be suprised. you don't actually have to make a tube, just slide the knitting back down to the other end of the needles and knit on the front again, leaving a long strand across the back. the edge stitches will be a little wonky, so just measure in the middle.

well i have to go down 2 sizes on needles for just about everything. and i knit looser in the round than i do on straights. so to me that sounds about right. i want to knit rowan lisette and i'll probably be on those same needles right along with you. good luck with it. i must say the fabric created with small needles is really nice though i am a litte frightened of the idea of a sweater on 1's too.

That sounds nightmarish, I wouldn't knit it. You *could* knit with 3s and do a smaller size. Or use the Chamonix for something else and find a yarn that works at that gauge and needle. Good luck!

Hmm...you will get a slight difference when you work in the round instead of flat. The only other thing I'm thinking of...what kind of needles are you using? I swatched on addi turbo's for Oberstdorf & used the turbo's for the body. Now that I'm working with generic susan bates dpn's for the sleeves, I'm knitting a bit tighter because the yarn doesn't slide as much on these needles. I absolutely cannot use bamboo because I knit so tightly on those that I've snapped a needle before.
Aside from that, I can't think of any suggestions.
