Sunday isn't yet monday... almost tho!

So this weekend I sewed, knitted, and the husbeast and I went to doggy school.

Teaching Willow heel was a bit of a stress. I HATE having to do the whole "jerk the leash" thing... but well I am not tlanated enough or patient enough to teach a dog without that. So while I was tugging the heck out of her she took a HUGE dump in the middle of the room.

I do believe it was out of revenge, and partially stress. I felt so awful!

Good news was, later when I took her out to pee, I walked her and she did it perfect with just a few delicate pops! You GO girl! I was proud of her, and ashamed of myself. But well this is why you get a dog BEFORE you have children! lol

I finished cutting, and then sewed together 5 rows of silk sqaures, 4 more rows to go, and then I will sew all the rows together. If I remember to bring my digital camera to work I will post pictures.

The husbeast has been working all weekend so hasn't had time to put my hard drive back in the laptop.

Saturday I went to IKEA (and after 3 hours in the store left with nothing, and sadly didn't even take any pics with my phone). I left frustrated. Then stopped at Target, and they didn't have any shelving units I wanted either!! Last stop, Pier 1. I got a nice $100 dollar shelf unit that is VERY pretty and matches some of the other furniture in the house. So I re-arranged my crafting room a bit, but it's still not picture ready. I should have taken before pics.. doh!!

SO well now I am going to bed, watch the husbeast play X-MEN and work on my scarf!

Knitting and Quilting

Well so, I finished that scarf for my mom, however I need to add the fringe (sp?) and weave in the ends. Her birthday is mid/late august and so I will need to send it off in a week or two.

I started the new multi-directional scarf, it's darker then i wanted but really pretty. So last night I worked on that and felt my hands hurting so I took a break and went and cut silk fabric for my super cool quilt I am going to make. Photo's to come of everything hopefully by tonight. I took pics, but my computer is broken.

Here is the new scarf:

Did you know if you go to Costco and get Perrier it's only .50 sents a bottle?? And glass is easier to recycle then plastic :)

That's cheaper then plain water!

Do you love to sew?

Okay so I saw on the knitty forums that some people wanted to know if there was a sewing site like knitty. Well right now there isn't, but I think I could make one!

Submit a Design
If you would like to submit a pattern/design for consideration you may submit it to me at pixie AT pixiepurls.com.

Examples patterns:

  • Cute Pajama Bottoms (long pants)
  • Unique Pillow Sham
  • Cute Top
  • Toy
  • Skirt

Requirments
The patterns would need to include directions, as detailed as possible with all the yardage required etc.

Another requirment of the person submiting the pattern is that they have a digital camera and be able to submit photograph's of the item. It may require the person going out and getting a friend to do a "photo shoot" for example outside if possible if it is clothing, and a good "action shot" of the toy for example being used by a child, or the curtains in the room, and then maybe some detail shots (close up on hems or stiches).

You would also need to provide a small bio, and a "profile" photograph (doesn't have to be of you, but we prefer that).

Other Articles
You may also submit a tips/tricks article, or anything else you think would fit well into the idea of the site. Basically I hope to be atleats half as cool as knitty, which is simply the coolest thing on the web for knitters.

If you think you can do all this please send me the draft of your pattern, as well as one sample photo (doesn't need to be the final photo's).

Deadline
The deadline for pattern submissions is September 1st 2005. Please feel free to send this post to your friends who like to sew!

I promise to design a very cool, very hip website to house these patterns :)

We need a name!
We would also love any name suggestions for the site/mag emailed to me as well.

Prizes
Anyone whose design is picked for the magazine will be rewarded 2 yards of fabric! Details to come later. I promise it will be nice stuff!

Same goes for name submission, but in this case the reward will be reserved for the person who picks the name that is used. If I get enough good name submissions I might post a pole.

The new yarn from Threadbear

It arrived exactly the day they said it would! It's not as bright as I had imagined, but it's VERY pretty and I can't wait to get started. It's going to be about half the width of the one I made for my mom, which means a quicker knit and probably a bit hipper looking.

Esh...

Well I knit for HOURS last night, I think I pushed my hand a tad to much :(

But I am almost to the end of this scarf, I hope I have enough yarn left for a fringe. It's nearly 6 feet long! I plan on giving it to my mother for her birthday in August.

Help Macromedia - Win a free mini-ipod

Take this blogging questionaire. It's fun, and they just want to learn about how people blog. I put "knitting" down as my content for what I blog about hehe!

Being bad..

Okay I MUST STOP. No more purchasing, this was the last I swear!!

Now I know all of you with sewing machines want to go out and sew those sandals up right away!

So pretty I could eat it.

So close...

I am soooooo close to being done with my multi-directional scarf (oh and my yarn from threadbare *should* arrive today!), but I was distracted on Saturday. First Willow threw up. I wasn't too concerned as puppies do throw up from eating dumb things from time to time. She had acted odd before hand, I was happy when she threw up knowing it was out of her system.

Then later that evening, when we took her out to pee, she would go like 4 times in a row while walking. I knew that was NOT good. Having had cats, I knew Urinary Tract Infections are not un-common in female animals. However I have never had a female dog, only two males so I wasn't really sure.

So I figured maybe she was just ill for a bit and would be better in the morning. By the next morning she was laying down a bit to much (not her normal bundle of energy) and I took her out and then went to take my bath so we could go to our first doggy class. I have been looking forward to this for weeks now! She also wouldn't eat much of her breakfast and wasn't drinking as much as she should have been. So while I was bathing, she pee'd on the bath rug, and that in itself of course was a bad sign, but then i saw the pee was a very small amount and very yellow.

Off to the emergency vet, and $185 dollars later she seems much better. However she is still pee'ing a lot. So we have her on anti-biotic. She will be fine, but the poor thing is confined to her crate much more then usual. I have been giving her ice cubes, she's also teething. Poor little thing :(

Harry Potter - Goblet of Fire Trailor

News article with link to the trailor

I am soooo beyond excited about the next movie. I am just hoping, and praying they keep the cast and do all 8 books. How wonderful would that be? I mean honestly the kids growing up doesn't seem like a problem to me. They do look SO much older but I don't mind it at all. Harry looks like he might be handsome underneath those glasses, his cheak (sp?) bones are starting to show some definition.

So I have decided once I finish these two multi-direction scarves I will be allowed to buy the yarn and work on a Gryfandor one, they are the same as the last movie.

Knitting - Back in the game

So I feel the knitting urge again. No doubt it's from my good friend and co-worker being here this week and being able to have someone to talk about knitting to. I think I am going to try to convert a few ladies in my group to knit as well so I will be more motivated!!

I am going to order from threadbear some Diadomina in #314 and #303:

I have a little mis-hap on my old Diadomina scarf so i am going to have to knit backwards for 4 rows :( not fun! I was so close to being done to... I tried to just take it out and down and come back up with the stitch but the 3 times I tried it, it didn't look any better.

Update: Well they are out of #303 so I am on the list for when it comes in. I spoke with Rob, totally nice guy! He knows all about Atlanta to!

Knitting and Harry Potter

Well I spent all weekend reading the latest Harry Potter. Several knitting references, but the best one was near the beggining when Dumbledor mentions liking to read womens knitting magazines. I laughed and laughed. THere was a reference to a knitted sweater (by mrs weasley of course) which had a quiditch thingy on the front or something, sounded neat!! I hope someone knits it!

The last 3 chapters are... intense.. FOR GAWDS SAKE please don't make me wait 2 more years for the next one.. I MIGHT FREAK OUT. FREAK OUT!!!

Everyone start in on your new Harry Potter scarves for this fall!!

I was a bad putty cat

My bestest knitting buddy was supposed to come be at work this week and have lunch together but she couldn't come. So I went out and got two balls of some funky fun stuff for a nice spring scarf (multi-directional) and some fancy knitting sticks, as well as a really cute needle holder (rubber so as not to damage the needle tips) that matches my decore. I am trying hard to finish this old mutli-directional scarf from last fall.

A little update..

Well I don't know why photo's are posting weird.. it's really annoying!

It's been hard to do anything with the puppy, but I have been crochetting which I have to say I really enjoy the simplicity of.

I am looking forward to this winter, and MAYBE finishing the sweater (Fritz) and some scarves (The multi-directional). If they look nice when I am done, I may just knit them both a second time. MAYBE.

It will be a miracle if I finish them, but I think maybe I might. Do you believe?! I believe!!

I am looking forward to the puppy being older, and I have plans to make my crafting room better, which re-designing a craft room is totally a good motivator to craft in it more. I am going to throw out the guest bed (it's the puppies potty lol), put in the couch from my husbands office, and then I will put my computer desk in his office for his other computer, and go buy a really nice small corner one for my laptop, to get me to stop eating at the desk (if its to small to eat at, i cant!).

Hope you are all well, I still keep up on bloglines and dream of one day going to athens to visit all those hip chicks whom I admire so much and love reading about.
