A very productive evening!

So I am like 99% done with that scarf, so this evening I bite the big one and went for it on my "redwork" modern quilt workshop quilt. I had this weekend gotten a semi-decent pratice swatch of machine quilting:

So then I went for it!!

There are several mess-ups, and the lines should really not be wavy, but go in a circle. I could rip it out, but I might just leave it be and work on the rest of the quilt, and come back to deciding if I should rip it out or not. I actually had to start/stop several times and rip because I had my tension and speed incorrectly. I just sorta press buttons and move stuff till it does it right.

Machine quilting simply takes several attempts to get it right. It's more art then science. It depends on how you push or pull the fabric along, in conjunction with the speed of the machine setting.

This is the back side, the side that I had the most trouble with.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE I did this on my own, I was convinced I neededed to take a class, but that WONDERFUL modern quilt workshop book, and this particular quilt pattern motivated me to go for it! I am sooooo proud and excited!
