Solid Socks Along

WINNERS!

The requirments of the KAL was to finish a pair of solid socks before the new year, and photograph them creativly.

Jan from Pass the slipped stitch over
I think Jan took this contest very seriously and took a very creative photograph, still life! Her socks are such a pretty pattern and lots of forethought went into them!

Coffee Crazy Knitters April
I love the photo of the socks on the bed. I can imagine April snuggling her feet under the covers feeling all happy cause she made her first pair of socks and her feet are all cozy.

Congratulations April & Jan! Please email me your mailing addresses so I can send you some socky goodness in the mail!

Sorry it took me so long guys, I'm not a very good KAL host.

As Socktober Fest is coming to an end, I decided to start my own Sock Along. Anyone want to join in? Please reply to this entry and I will add your name and post progress updates!!

This particular Sock Along is geared towards anyone knitting solid socks! I am a fan of solid, classic socks. The sock can be in ANY pattern, but the yarn needs to be a solid color. If it is hand dyed and has a very slight fade in color that is acceptable. The end date is new years eve!

Prizes
At the end I will offer a prize to whomever takes the coolest photo of a finished pair of socks, some nice fiber for your stash!

So far there are more then 50 people knitting solid socks, wow!

Here is a tutorial on how to knit 2 socks on 2 circs.

I'm interested. I've got a ball of denim type yarn begging to become socks. It isn't quite *solid* up close, but it isn't variegated, either.

Count us IN! Sounds like fun!

Sounds fun! I've never done sock knitting before, but I have 2 balls of Bernat Sox yarn in my stash that has been staring at me!

I'll join in. Now that I'm finished my scarf I don't have an "on-the-go" project to carry in my purse. Socks would be perfect! Not to mention that I have about 7 skeins of sockweight yarn in my stash.

Shoot! I'm on a yarn diet, I can't just go out and buy plain yarn...all I have is not plain. Oh, well, next time:o)

Have fun.

I'd like to join in too!

Thanks

Hiya! I've never made a sock before, but am ready for the challenge and thought this would be tons of fun...can I join in? :)

I'm in! I just ordered some solid yarn from Knitpicks yesterday, so this will be perfect!

Sign me up, Pixie! I've started a variegated sock for Sam (my 10 year old) but they should go fast. I've been eyeing up some solid indigo blue Koigu in my stash and I just picked up a new stitch book. So I guess the time is right. Love the buttons!

Hi Pixie! I'd like to join... I just started some solid navy blue socks, this will be great to keep me motivated to finish by Christmas!!

Holy Hannah I see someone's done their socks already! Didn't this just start yesterday? Anyway I'm on my way with it, got my skein wound into a ball, spent the morning designing a pattern and now I'm clicking away. I've got the toe done (I prefer toe-up socks) and one repeat on my pattern stitches. I think these are going to be really pretty! Now I have to put down the knitting and go do something constructive around the house.

Saw the link for this on the Knitty board. I'd like to sign up. My socks may not be classic (I'm leaning towards orange) but they'll still be solid!

Count me in! I'm turning the heel on the 2nd of my current pair of socks and planning to start a solid pair as soom I'm done with this sock!

Can I also post for a pair of felted solid colored slippers?

I'm not sure if we're supposed to be posting progress or not but there's pics on my blog; just click on my name below.

I wanna join!! (waving hand wildly in the air) Please, pretty please . . I love solid socks.

Is there going to be a blog or some central location for the sock-along? Because we have pretty buttons but nothing to link to!

Hi! I'm going to cast on for a pair of solid socks for my grandpa's Christmas gift, so I'd like to be part of this KAL.

Your links to the sock patterns at Knitter's Nook aren't working....

I have some dark purple with flecks yarn that will make wonderful socks. Please count me in if that yarn is considered solid.
Thanks.
Marty

I'd love to! I have some beautiful soft gray sock yarn just waiting to go on the needles!

I'd love to join, my email is ribbit2jen@yahoo.com,
Jen

Great idea! I keep meaning to make more solid socks. Maybe this will push me to do so - please add me to the list!

Is it too late to join? I co for a pair of socks for DH last night. I'm using Footpath in Lichen and I'm waiting for the pattern to reveal itself to me. I'm only 1/2" into the cuff ribbing so I have a little time :O)

I'd like to join your solid socks KAL. I've got several solid Lang Jawool skeins and some solid Opal. hmmmm, which to choose!

I thought I was the ONLY solid sock fan! count me in, I have a pair on the needles now in Knit Picks essentials Dark Green (I forget the exact name). Your link to the sock pattern isn't working, could you send it to me pls? thanks!!! Patti

Count me in!

Me too! Socks are easy things to knit in the hot weather and it looks like a long hot summer down here.

One question...adult socks or any size? I could make some for me or my sister and there's always the grandchildren.

Oh gosh...I shouldn't really do this but I'll join in. I have an orange pair of socks I'd like to knit so this will get me going.

Perfect timing, I just got a box from Herrshnerr's chock full of Kroy Sock yarn in solids! Sign me up...

Add me to your list! I knit socks non-stop! I am currently working on a pair of shaded browns and a pair of solid blue.

I couldn't join Socktober Fest because I was working on my backtack project, even so, I was feeling a little left out of all of the sock fun. Yay! Now I can join in on the fun. Count me it too please :D

I'm in, that gives me an excuse to cast on another pair of socks!

I'd like to join! Let me know if you need more info.

i just bought black yarn to make a pair of socks. please sign me up! thx.

Count me in!! I'm sure I have some solid in my small stash. If not I'll just have to buy some. ;)

i'd love to join. i don't have a blog, but i'm knitting away on all black socks. the boy's work requires only plain black or plain white socks and the family is boring and it's christmas time so we see what i'm up to know. plus i just finished a pair last night. yea me.

i do have a question though. i'm currently using knitpicks essential. anyone else know of good solid machine wash sock yarn? i know of jawhol (sp?) but anything else?

I'm game. Details? Okay to be blog-less?

I'd like to join the sock-a-long, please.

This is my first sock-a-long. How does it work?

Thanks.
