August 5th, Athens GA - Plying the Arts 2006

Plying the Arts 2006 - I found out about this from Judy over at Knitch and I plan on going!

If any of the Athens bloggers are interested in meeting up sometime between noon and 2pm please comment here and I'll put something together. The market is free and they will have Far Out Farm, Uncommon Threads, Wauka Valley Farm and many more with yarn and roving for purchase! We also will probably stop by Main Street Yarns to take a look!

I'll be taking this class;

W5-4AP - Spinning Ancient Sheep Breeds
Historic sheep breeds are not old and dusty sheep, but fibers with unique stories and textures. Come and learn about the history and evolution of eight historic breeds of sheep (all of which are still around today) and their unique fiber characteristics while spinning samples of their fiber in class. Heather McCloy.

I did pick up some roving and a new spindle last night, and it was funny when I came home I wanted to show my husband and he immediately took the spindle out of my hand, and begun trying to spin on it (first off, never touch a women’s spindle without asking) haha! I was in shock, he tried and it was of course too thick and got caught and then kept spinning backwards, but hey it didn't break! He said "Yeah, give me another hour and I could be doing it thin like you". Then he said "sorry" as he realized he had made a tangled mess. Good thing it was practice roving attached!

Comments

I'll be on vacation (yay!) so I'll miss PTA. Have fun there!
