Can I say this is my first?
Nearly 2 years ago I attempted to spind on a drop spindle but I didn't wind up liking it very much. In fact once I got a wheel nearly a year later, I would tell people I hated using a drop spindle.
It requires a whole heck of a lot of little things you have to do with your hands all at the same time. I am not a klutz but I also was never able to pat my head and rub my belly at the same time without the hand on my head creating halos.
Well now I can say I *like* using a drop spindle! Here are the results of last night;
The Merino Top is a super wash so it's a bit slippery, and because it's Top it has longer length to the fibers. The blue stuff they had me use in the store was super easy to spin with, this Merino took a bit of fiddling with. I was proud once I had figured it out.
I tried to show my husband, but any time he came into the same room as me I would start to fail misrably. The yarn would break, the spin would get too far up the roving, or I would get thicker yarn where before he entered I was getting perfectly good consistancy.
I hope I can figure out how to spin with people in the room, or it defies my whole thing about finally being able to show my mom how I spin!

Mmmmm...I'm so envious. I only know how to needlepoint.

I'm just learning to spin on the drop spindle. It's a little awkward, but I'm figuring it out. BTW, thanks for the forum!
