omgosh
Right now I feel like I totally freakin rock!! It all started at MDS&W back in may when I told Monica I was wanting to Navajo ply (and I had just missed an opportunity to learn). She zipped her little spindle on her leg and Navajo Plied like a bad ass. My brain went "WHU!!!". I saw what she did, but I didn't really see.
Then I read an article in a recent "Spin Off!" Magazine and watched some videos online. I knew what it was about but I couldn't yet try it.
So then on Saturday at our SnB (and a new snazzy location complete with good sunlight and air conditioning) Jen of JenLa took my little bit of handspun and showed me how to do it with just her hands. Something finally clicked.
So last night I attempted it, and things didn't go well. I went BACK to read the article in Spin Off! in a bath this morning, and watched the video again. I realized I just had one hand not placed properly. My left hand was not up front pinching, keeping the twist from getting to far up, and keeping it from being smooth and controlled. I went back on my wheel, this time with my little ball of lace weight which I had not touched and did it. I DID IT! I never felt like such a complete bad ass in my life!
I spent most of last night and today working on my tank. I have very little of the brown yarn left, and 1 more section of each color (4) to complete. I may just have to run by Cast on Cottage this week. I can't imagine I would have enough left for the straps, but maybe. I have had nightmares several nights in a row, but last night somehow I slept unbelievably sound (even when I has some sips of a redbull around 1am) and then even took a nap today for 2 hours.
Now excuse my while I go run my left hand under some hot water and wash the dishes (bleh).
