I have decided I don't like dyed wool if it hasn't been carded or something after it was dyed. It's sticky, and if it has short staple it's a pain to draft or spin consistantly. Or I just didn't like this stuff. I filled one bobbin with some green wool stuff, so tonight maybe I'll fill the other one and do a 2 ply. I didn't like it either, it was all puffy so none of the staple was in ONE direction. If I had carders I would have re-carded it! Maybe I'm just hella grumpy. Here are some happy faces though...

It may not FEEL good, but it looks super fun! I wonder if you can rinse it before you spin it, if it's too sticky?

Your wool definitely shouldn't be sticky. If it is, it means that either the lanolin wasn't properly washed out of the wool before dying, or that the dye wasn't properly washed out AFTER dying. You might want to buy your wool from a different source. =0

AWWWWW - that photo is just to die for!! That's it, I'm going out to get a dog. I just want to give your dog the biggest smooch in the world!!! oh, and I love your podcast! I look forward to it,and I'm saving your archives up like candy. Have a great weekend.

The sticky is lanolin and though some like to spin "in the grease", I definitely don't.
