Pixie Purls Knitting & Spinning

« How was your weekend? | Main | Nearly Over »

It's friday people!

I have felt a lot better ever since I went out with Claudia, so I decided I want to go to SnB again this weekend even though it means lots less time with the husband. However I think it's good for me mentally to get out of the house and have some time with friends!

Another thing I do when down in the dumps is spend money. This is not a good habit but considering I have no other habits and I know I'm not allowed yarn or roving at ALL at this point, I directed my attention at something else.

Who can guess what it is? If you KNOW don't guess!!! I left 1 clue for you hacker types.

Simple Knitted Bodice
The KAL is going strong and I am amazed we nearly have 90 people signed up now. I remember the first whole year I blogged, hardly getting any comments, hardly any FO's and when I did try to do a KAL it never went very far. It's neat to see how I have grown in this little blogging world of ours and I have figured out which things are best to take a shot at and have a high chance of being successful. However I also realize I have taken a lot on with the KAL, the Forums and the blog. One reason I am not blogging every day as usual, but I think that just means richer content so it might be a good thing. I have learned to say no to swaps because I know I stink at it, and I have learned that I CAN take a stab at making up patterns or altering ones to fit me better.

SKB

But I digress, back to the SKB... so the lace panel.. ugh dark yarn, with sequins.. not so much! I royally screwed up the lace just on the back, and I just really didn't want to frog, so I kept going after I got back to the right number of stitches and I'm not sure how noticeable it will be in the end. I might wind up frogging the whole lace panel but I'm going to get to the end of it to see how I feel. Its dark yarn that you can hardly make out the lace as it is. Sorry for such a crappy photo. Hopefully I will finish the lace panel this weekend either way and can post perty pics then!

I think the SKB looks beautiful. I've been following along with the SKB KAL daily and love looking at everyone's progress. I plan to make the sweater myself someday. At any rate, you're doing a nice job.

The bodice looks great--I love the color of yarn that you've chosen, it's such a rich jewel tone! I too tend to buy when I shouldn't. I had a little fun at Cara of January One's stash sale! Yay Friday!

Definitely go to the SNB. It is good to get out with the girls and just unwind. Yes, it means less time with the hubby, but still, everyone needs some me time. I find my evening at the SNB therapeutic. I won't give that up so easily.

Seattle huh? I'm guessing books from Amazon.

I'm guessing something fibery anyway. Is it a spinning wheel? An Ashford Joy that you mentioned trying out recently?
Guessing by your hacker-type clue...)

I'm glad you are getting some you time away from home, that can make a big difference in your sanity sometimes =)

I hope your lace panel works out ok. If you do have to rip it out, you may like tiny beads better than sequins?

An Ashford Joy by the looks of it! :) Congrats on the new acquisition!

Glad you are feeling better! You should definately go to the SNB this weekend and have some girl time. SKB is looking great!!!

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks nice to me from what I can see. I'd keep going with it too and see how you like it after that. I'm almost done with my lace (woo hoo!) and I owe y'all a post on the other blog.

I feel that your purchase has something to do with....spinning...

I still haven't joined my SKB...this weekend!! Your so lucky to have a SnB! There really aren't any here that I can go to, and they are mostly old ladies so it meets during the day, when I'm at work! That's why I love the blog world!

OH Yeah love that jade color! Good like with the lace, I hope yours works out. The lace part scares me...I've never done lace before!

I love the sweater, and have seen the yarn in person. So lush, so soft, but I hesitated at the thought of the sequins. I know you mentioned that you liked working with the yarn, but what's working with the sequins like?

The sequins are fine, it's the size 4 ne edles that make it difficult, and the lace in a very dark yarn I don't like. The yarn itself is perfect. Couldn't ask for better, and the sequins are tiny.

Hahaha, funny hacker type clue. :)
