Lion Brand Fall 2006

Yesterday in the mail I got the new Lion Brand Fall 2006 magazine.

They re-vamped their whole entire look. There are hip and modern designs, layed out in pretty rooms that could be in any modern furniture catalog. I am extremly impressed.

Most of all however, I like this. I have no idea why but I like it a lot. I think I would just leave the split neck open without the fancy bits. Am I freak for liking this? Sometimes I like things that fall into the "Tacky" catagory. I love the mock-ribbing at the bottom.

Does the blanket below look familiar?

I like the crochet sweater too - this is OT, but have you seen the Josephine pullover in the current issue of Interweave Crochet? It is knit on top (ribbing) and crocheted on the bottom and has a similar empire waist shape to the knitted bodice we're doing in the KAL.

I haven't tried a crocheted sweater before but thought b/c this one was 1/2 knitted it might be a good first one to do, and maybe a KAL would make sense for any others who've been wanting to try their first crochet sweater. Let me know what you think.

Define tacky. I know, that's funny coming from me but seriously...having seen fashion come and go...If you like it, you like it. The sweater Is a bit like your gramma's afghan pattern remembered fondly...wrap yourself in cuddly granny memories...what could be more of a tribute to the history of crochet..the bits just make it unique and probably, truth be told...keep the neckline from gaping open without ribbing or some added stabilization. Or were you talking about the scarf? ....never mind.

I really like that sweater! I don't think it's tacky, it's kind of funky, but those are two different things. I'm not sure I would choose those colors together for myself though.

I just got that catalog today (1st time ever) and really liked several projects in it, incl. that sweater. It looked great though, the whole package.

i actually gasped when i saw that afghan!! it's lizard ridge!!! but liz is better, i think. :)
