Jury is out on this one but I always notify my credit card companies of my trip so their fraud protection genies don't cut me off mid trip. almost happened to my son when in Europe.

Can I just say, you going to London, me so jealous! It's such a beautiful city, in gorgeous country!
abigale says;
Whoo Hoo - London! How exciting!
Be really really careful crossing the street! I can't tell you how disconcerting it is to have the traffic coming at you the other way.
Other thing - yarn in London - basically the best bet is to get to Marble Arch/Oxford St - the John Lewis on Oxford St has an OK selection of yarn - though I've heard they've scaled it down some. But you can get Rowan and Jaeger yarns there - the John Lewis brand yarn is usually quite nice as well...And all of the above much much cheaper than you would pay for here!!!!! MUCH
BUT if you're down that way (and it's close to the American Embassy, in case you run into any bother), then you really really need to go to Liberty's Of London - beautiful old Tudor style building, I mean really old - really beautiful... The yarn was on the top floor last time I was there - again, probably about the same Rowan/Jaeger type yarns - but seriously less $$ than you can buy them wholesale from the states. It's right off of Oxford street, and a short walk from John Lewis - across the street and away from Marble Arch a ways - I'd google/mapquest it.
Other than that, there weren't many other yarn stores in London that I know of when I lived there (I lived in Oxford - but would range far and wide for yarn!).
Do have fun, enjoy yourself immensely - be sure to take lots of pictures!
Abi
Anyway - really really have fun - if you get a chance to go to Oxford the must see there is the Pitt-River museum - but I'm sure you'll be really busy and not get a chance to do and see everything you want to see and do.

I SO would never have thought to put my list in the blog for safe keeping! You're a genius, I don't care what they told you in school.
I'm so happy you get to go to London.... some day.... me too. (but yaaay you!)

Please tell me you're taking the digital camera, your laptop and updating us on this Christmas Adventure!
Im getting so excited and Im not going! How fair is that?
Hubby and I are looking into releasing ourselves from the *bondage* of debt... and are thinking we may do something like this in two or three years. I think we will either go to Ireland or New Zealand. Only b/c those are the only places he is willing to visit.
Girl vacation anyone??
I hope you get everything done... so that you can relax, relax, relax!

You forgot: Buy Jen Presents. :D

And you forgot - take lots of pictures with knitting in foreign countries.
Carmen says;
Hi, I met you at Knitch Sunday. I really enjoyed talking you and Claudia. I didn't realize you were going to Europe. My husband and I were just in Italy in November. Wish I knew yesterday, I would've given you all my lessons learned! Drop me a line and I can send you my pictures ;) You guys have totally got me into knitting again. I was a fiend last night - knitting till I fell asleep. BTW, love your iPod cozzie. I'm going to make that as a stocking stuffer for my hubby.
K says;
Have a fabulous trip! I look forward to your posts about it when you get back.
jenny says;
Hey, sounds like your list is going well. Do you have something so if its dark, you can knit. Like if they dim the lights on the plain, or if you are on a train at night etc.... If not - check out the "ear light" at discovery.com. Way cool.
HAVE FUN!!!
PS - I've carried my Denise set in my carry on luggage. Just in case you want to take it with you. And, print out the TSA allowed list, so if they tell you you can't, you can show them you can. But of course, don't fight with them. ALWAYS be pleasant. Woo Hoo - so happy for you!
Sasha says;
I love the updated list! And I love that we get to be part of the pre-travel excitement and buildup. This is the stuff that really makes it feel like a super fun awesome adventure travel - the planning, the must-not-forgets, the powercords and boring things you have to remember to take... ooohhhhhh!!! What fun!!! =D
Michele says;
Don't forget your power adapter w/euro plugs to charge your Ipod and stuff.
Marti / PaperYarnGirl says;
SO excited to see your preparations!!! Have a wonderful trip... can't wait to hear all about it!

When are you leaving? Here's my clothing/packing advice (like you need it):
Pack and dress in layers. Camisoles, button-up or other lightweight shirts, sweaters. That way you can lose a layer while in a museum and throw it back on when you leave.
Pack less than you think you'll need. You'll need room in your suitcase for bringing items back and the airlines have gotten serious about weight restrictions.
Bring a small can of Febreeze to freshen clothing you'll wear more than once (black pants).
Don't try to cram too much into your time there. Enjoy the experience, which will be as much about walking down the street as it is doing/going/seeing.
Most importantly - HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!
Leslie says;
Go already! They have stores over there, you know, if you forget something and really really need it. Oh, and don't forget your camera so you can bring us back lots of pics. Merry Christmas!

I love your podcast! I just got an ipod for Xmas this year, so I am catching up in the podcast world. I live in Greenville SC, and I know what you mean about taking years to find a knitting group that you feel at home with. Also, thanks for being another technical person married to a geek (me too!) and embracing it. :)
My DH and I went to Australia and New Zealand on our honeymoon last year, so I just wanted to let anyone who is planning to travel there that they do not allow knitting in the cabin of the plane, only in your packed luggage. Yes, it sucks! Anyway, I hope you love Europe. I know I do.
Nutmeg says;
I just started listening, and I love your show!!! Keep up the awesome podcast ;)
