Louisa Harding - Impression

This Saturday our SnB ran over to Woodstock, GA to the lovely "Whole Nine Yarns" for our monthly fieldtrip. I of course wasn't intending to buy any yarn but I find it hard to walk into a yarn store and NOT buy yarn. I have always wanted to try Louisa Harding and she has a lovely new book out that is just my style.

Louisa Harding Impresions

It's called "Modern Classics" and while I think most of us knitters who had some "balls" could probably write these patterns up fairly easily, it is nice to not *have* to. I got this on a whim, knowing full well I didn't need it.

I thought the Fitted Textured Sweater was very pretty (doesn't look that fitted to me...) and the yarn really caught my eye. I got it in the same color (08) of "Impression" that is in the photo. To me it's the color of "Tigerseye" stones, I love it.

Impressions is a superfine strand of kid mohair, wrapped around a very soft ribboned yarn. It's extremly soft and fluffy. I'm anxious to swatch but I think I'll save it for a little later.

I'm still working on my bolero, nice and slow like a turtle!

Hi - I got that book for Christmas and love it. Are you still working on Sahara? How's it coming?

I was just at whole nine yarns the other day! Where does your snb meet?

I love Impressions yarn. I actually have really enjoyed all the Louisa Harding yarns I've used, and I've tried perhaps a half dozen. Nice stuff, and great colorways for almost anyone. You are going to enjoy feeling it flow through your fingers!

You mentioned on one of your podcasts seeing the Clapotis done as a scarf. If you have an account with Kpixie you can get into their free patterns. They have the directions for modifying the knitty pattern to be a scarf. Sorry if this is redundant information. Really enjoy your blog and podcast!

Great sweater!

The yarn is beautiful.

Can't wait to see it!!

Pixie, I can't wait to see that yarn knit up. It looks dreamy.

I recently got this book too and I love it. Like you said, basic sweaters, but all in one place. Definitely a classic. I can't wait to see your sweater!

Oh god that color is gorgeous! I love her designs, I'll have to pick that book up the next time I hit the yarn store.

The yarn is delicious.

I just finished half of the tank out of Erika Knight's "Classic Knits". I've been eyeing "Modern Classics", also. I think it's great to have a pattern for the basics. You can always alter it with a flair of your own.

I go to the TWNY weekly, I love Debi!! I have been looking for a SnB group, where do you meet???

Pixiieee? Where are youuuu? Blog land isn't the same with the spritely knitting pixiieee!!! Hope you're doing fun things and up to lots of mischief! Post soon! Podcast soon! :)

Hi there. I'm working on the same sweater, but in the solid angora version. I am in need of advice, though, so thought I'd ask you! The directions for the front of the sweater seem vague to me. I understand that I work the front the same as for the back, but where exactly to do I stop? The pattern says 20 rows below the beginning of shoulder shaping -- am I reading that properly? Thanks in advance for your help; I totally appreciate it!!
