His Dark Materials

I feel dumb, I has no idea His Dark Materials is going to be a movie. Wow how will they handle some of the special effects I wonder. Man I hope it's good like the Harry Potter movies. The girl doesn't look exactly as I imagined her, as I always imagined her very pretty just under lots of mud, because her mother is supposed to be so beutiful. This girl looks more lilke Anny.

December 2007, so happy to have a movie to look forward to! Nicole K is perfect for the part she's playing.

Update: Check out these photos, okay I like the girl playing lyra now! Lookit, handknits hehe

I haven't heard of these novels yet, but I have added them to my To Read list - it's growing almost as quickly as my To Knit list is!

Oh my gosh! I had no idea either!!!!! I loved those books!

I completely didn't have a clue they were doing a movie either. I do hope they don't botch it up.

That is great news! I will also have something to look forward to--I am also looking forward to a few other movies:
HP
Spiderman
and now this one, woohoo!

Don't feel dumb. I didn't know it until I read your post. I'm excited! I hope they do the book(s) justice.

Sometimes I feel like the only person who did NOT like those books. Emphatically did not. I read the first, was appalled, and then even read the second . . . and was never able to bring myself to read the third. The villany was too awful for me to contemplate. (I don't want to state too much in case any one hasn't read them yet.) I just couldn't get past that.

Oddly, though, I DID know it was being made into a movie!

I've found lately that I've been noticing handknits in movies a lot. There's definitely a book in there somewhere, with pictures and patterns of movie knits. Many period pieces set in Great Britain and Scandinavia have some wonderful knits in them, I wish there was some way of cataloguing them. This jacket that you've linked is certainly interesting!

OMG!!! Ever since I read (and re-read) these I've been wanting to see a movie. I am SO excited.

I hope it doesn't suck. :P

I agree with your description of Lyra. lol.

Thanks for posting this!

I love those books, thanks for the link!
