My Secret!

Something has been going on for a while here at Pixie Purls, but I have kept it hidden because well that's just how I am! So now it's the proper time for me to come out of the closet! No, not that closet... the closet in my guest bedroom that now has a job. It's going to be housing some interesting clothing in a few months.

Pixie Purls has a bun in the oven! :)

I have been such a bad blogger haven't I? I like to think things are returning to normal, we can hope! All I will say is we tried for 6 months, and it was a frustrating 6 months. Turns out 6 months is actually fairly average but I don't care what they say or what is average. It was frustrating at times and I'm sure that came out in some of my fall podcasts. I can empathize on some level with those who have been trying longer.

As it turns out I was pregnant in London!!! Boy this baby has been around the world! When in Paris I got snockered up on some champaign (opsy) but about halfway through the trip my pants wouldn't fit, I had to wear my jeans the whole time. It never occurred to me WHY! So then a few days later I realized something was late so when i got sick late in the trip and the husbeast told me to take some meds I decided not too. I also made sure not to drink anymore. I didn't THINK I was but well ya know just in case... So the night we got home from London I took a test and low and behold it was positive!

Here is the sad truth, I have not knit one stitch sense I got pregnant, it should have been an early sign huh? Who needs pregnancy tests, when you don't knit after having knit straight and avid for 3 years, something HAS to be weird. I always thought it was weird the pregnant bloggers hardly knit at all. Now I know why. No I didn't have bad morning sickness even, I have only tossed my cookies once so far, when willow (our dog) burped in my face about 2 weeks ago. haha.

So why haven't I wanted to knit?? I HAVE NO IDEA!! I feel like I have a disease. It's just plain weird. I am hoping things start to return to normal now that I am in the 2nd trimester and supposedly your supposed to feel more normal then.

If you all don't mind too much I might be posting about some quilting, but I strongly believe if you make it through this pregnancy with me, that we will find some knitting on the other end! I plan on taking about 6 months maternity and I'm sure that if Alison can manage to knit with twins AND a new baby, then I can manage some knitting too! Thanks for hanging in there with me. I plan on atempting to podcast as well, when I am able!

Wow! Congratulations Pixie!!!

Congratulations! I love the belly shot, that will have to go in the baby book :)

Congrats Ms. Pixie! I can't wait to knit that little bugger some cute baby gear!

Thank goodness you finally revealed. Keeping the secret was HARD. Plus, now the "jinx" is lifted and we can knit baby stuff. I have some Australian wool just for the squirt and I have been waiting for the go-ahead.

The only thing that sucks is not having you for our entertainment purposes at SAFF this year. Can't you hire a nanny? The nanny and the baby could have their own room and you could party with us most of the night. After all the places this baby has already been, I think a fiber fest would be appropriate.

Congratulations! That is just fabulous news!

Ahhhhhh...how serene you look! And in the Australian photos...husby is glowing! Y'alls joy is showing!
I'm glad Australia went well...and I for one don't mind a bit looking at quilting on yer blog! The more needle crafts, the better as far as I'm concerned!

Congrats!! I just made my announcement, and have only very recently picked the sticks back up. I was just too tired to do anything before.

Awwww. Congratulations!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!! That's wonderful! Your life will be FOREVER changed!

Congratulations!

Congratulations!! And don't worry... nothing is normal when your pregnant. You hate foods you normally love and love foods you normally hate. Same goes for activities. So quilt away. But I bet once you peek at some baby yarn and patterns at the LYS, you'll be right back at it!

Wow, congratulations!!! What fun... nothing like being a mom!

Yay!!! Congratulations Pixie! I am so happy for you! There is nothing in the world quite like motherhood.
And don't worry about not feeling like knitting, it's par for the course with being pregnant, everything is weird.
Any news on the due date yet?

Congratulations! :)

Tee heee!!! OMG the thing about willow has me rolling on the floor....

Ah! Congrats!

Congratulations!

Oddly, I didn't feel much like knitting during my most recent pregnancy either.

congratulations. keep us updated so we can give you some support here. :)

Congrats!

congratulations to both of you!

Congrats! You know we'll wait this out with you. We wish you nothing but the best, even if you never knit again!

Your whole crafting perspective changes when you become pregnant. You don't make things for yourself or your sig other anymore, it's all for the baby. Can't wait to see all the things you make. It is an exciting time. I wish you much health and happiness during your pregnancy. COngrats.

Congrats Pixie! What an exciting time! Enjoy it.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! What month are you due?

You know, I hardly knit a stitch the whole time I was pregnant, either. Rest assured, the mojo came back when the baby came out! (We're going to start trying for #2 some time this year... I wonder if it will happen again? :)

Congratulations!

Congratulations! That's one well-travelled baby!

And like Shannon says, everything does get a bit weird when pregnant, just go with it - you'll get your knitting mojo back when you're ready - even if it is a few years down the line...

Congrats!!

That's wonderful news! Congratulations!

Congratulations Pixie on your upcoming pixielette!!! What fantastic news!

Congratulations! First babies are so special. Enjoy every minute and get lots of cat naps now while you can!

Hooray! Congratulations!!

Congratulations!

First babies are so exciting.Congrats!!! Enjoy the time and new experiences. I like to quilt too. Let everyone else knit for you and the little one. Glad to hear your session was successful and the trip was fun.

Congratulations and good luck on the quilting.

Congrats!!! Yeah I didn't knit while pregnant -- NINE WHOLE MONTHS!!! It made me soooo sick to knit and then when I was feeling better I was too tired...

But that's ok - there is always sewing!! LOL

Congrats again - so happy for you!

(and it took us 6mo too - yeah those months sucked!!)

Such wonderful news! Congrats!

Hey Girl!

Congrats! My husband and I have been trying for years... nothing wrong with either one of us, and every method of determining the right timing has failed. Time to stand on my head, perhaps?!

So happy for you!! What an exciting time!! Cant wait to hear about dr appointments and baby names... the sex and everything else in between!!

Best Wishes!

YEA!!! wow... babies everywhere! (really... everyone at church is having one too!) Congrats!

Congratulations!

Congrats! I didn't knit when I was pregnant with either of mine, but they certainly affected every other aspect of my life from the start.

congrats!! that baby is already more well traveled than I am!! :)

I actually audibly gasped when I read that(which is unusual for me)! Congratulations! Yay!

Congratulations! Hope the knitting mojo returns. Think of all the fun baby knits you can do!

Congratulations!

Congratulations! I've got just six days left until my due date, and it feels like just yesterday when I announced the same on my podcast and blog. Time goes by so fast, so just do what you enjoy whenever you feel like it! =)

Congrats!! We just started trying (2nd month). It's a frustrating "process" and the waiting absolutely sucks. Hmm...guess I'll keep an eye on my knitting funks! Congrats again :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! What an amazing journey you are beginning. Many blessings to all of you.

Congratulations...........
you look beautiful....

Are you gonna find out what your having?

Congratulations! I had a feeling you were trying (based on a comment you made on someone's blog) and I'm so happy you succeeded! :o)

Congratulations! When I first listened to your pod cast back in the days when you first started. I knew you were going to be pregnant within this two years. I'm so happy for you. Something told me to go visit your blog today. Second trimester is the best. Enjoy and take care of yourself.

Sonya

Congrats, Pixie!!!! :)

Oh Pixie - I am so excited for you!! Isn't it amazing how everything changes when you are pregnant?

That is one well-traveled baby. And that's probably what you needed - a little rest and relaxation. Hey, I got pregnant in Hawaii and I swear it was because I chilled out.

All the best to you, hubby and baby Pixie. Don't worry - you'll pick up the needles again soon.....

Congratulations Miss Pixie!! How exciting for you two. Don't worry about the knitting, I didn't even know how to knit when I was carrying my boy (he's 15 now) and now that I know how my friends have stopped having kids! You'll have plenty of time to create tons of cute knitted baby things once your little one gets here. Take care!

Congratulations! Do you want to know something strange....I think the last time I stalked your blog I was pregnant and remember reading you were going to try sometime in the future....Today I was surfing the net, decided to visit haven't been here in about a year and what do I find you announcing?!! I'm psycho...or psychic...your choice. Congrats again from a neighbor.

Congratulations! That is awesome. I'm so happy for you both. I was wondering why there was no podcast, but that's great for you two. Enjoy the pregnancy,

Wonderful news. Congratulations!!!

Such wonderful news!! Good for you =)

Havent been there myself but Ive seen it happen with plenty others - I'm sure your knitting drive will return soon enough!

Congratulations!!! You were in London around New Years, right??? I found out in early January that I'm pregnant as well, so I'll bet we're due around the same time!!! Best of luck! I think I am FINALLY finished with morning (all-day, thank you) sickness after being sick for TEN WEEKS. UGH! I too haven't been bit by the baby knitting bug. I hope I get inspired once we find out what the gender is.
Best of luck and enjoy (sleep as much as you can now!)

Anna can't wait to have someone to play with!! Congrats! It's hard and eaay at the same time. :) Mwah!!

Congrats, Pixie!!! So happy for you!!! :D

Congrats and good luck!

Congratulations! What a great time in your life! I know that when I was pregnant (4 X) - I knew I would have lots of time to sew, knit , crochet. Well, I have news for you. I couldn't even go near the yarn - the touch, the smell, made me sick - the whole time - not until my children were born could I go back to it. It really was bad for me because that was the time that I had lots of time to knit and things like that. Oh well, maybe it was best for the health of the pregnancy. Our bodies will do things for us naturally. Go with the flow! You will be able to get back to things in time.

Congradulations!!!
You must knit one item for your little one or you'll feel guilty later...trust me on this one.lol

Congratulations on you news. Its all easy until they hit their teens...then look out. Enjoy the baby and toddler years.

Congratulations!!! Wonderful news. Don't worry, all of your friends will knit for you now.

Congratulations! on your happy news

Congratulations!

I am pregnant myself, and while unlike you I am just getting into knitting (and tend to put it down when I get frustrated), I have had the same symptoms.

I also had very VERY mild morning sickness although I found I was dizzy and tired for much of the time. Knitting seemed to make it much worse.

After about 7 weeks along I had no desire to knit at all. I was slightly panicked looking at my huge stash of alpaca and mohair and other luxury yarn, not to mention all the UFO's with no interest at all. I didn't even want to pet the yarn.

I found out this is fairly common. Now that I am in my 16th week, I find that I am feeling much better, and while clearing out my craft room for the baby, I started cooing over my yarn again. I think I am ready to pick up the sticks :)
