My Secret!
Something has been going on for a while here at Pixie Purls, but I have kept it hidden because well that's just how I am! So now it's the proper time for me to come out of the closet! No, not that closet... the closet in my guest bedroom that now has a job. It's going to be housing some interesting clothing in a few months.
Pixie Purls has a bun in the oven! :)
I have been such a bad blogger haven't I? I like to think things are returning to normal, we can hope! All I will say is we tried for 6 months, and it was a frustrating 6 months. Turns out 6 months is actually fairly average but I don't care what they say or what is average. It was frustrating at times and I'm sure that came out in some of my fall podcasts. I can empathize on some level with those who have been trying longer.
As it turns out I was pregnant in London!!! Boy this baby has been around the world! When in Paris I got snockered up on some champaign (opsy) but about halfway through the trip my pants wouldn't fit, I had to wear my jeans the whole time. It never occurred to me WHY! So then a few days later I realized something was late so when i got sick late in the trip and the husbeast told me to take some meds I decided not too. I also made sure not to drink anymore. I didn't THINK I was but well ya know just in case... So the night we got home from London I took a test and low and behold it was positive!
Here is the sad truth, I have not knit one stitch sense I got pregnant, it should have been an early sign huh? Who needs pregnancy tests, when you don't knit after having knit straight and avid for 3 years, something HAS to be weird. I always thought it was weird the pregnant bloggers hardly knit at all. Now I know why. No I didn't have bad morning sickness even, I have only tossed my cookies once so far, when willow (our dog) burped in my face about 2 weeks ago. haha.
So why haven't I wanted to knit?? I HAVE NO IDEA!! I feel like I have a disease. It's just plain weird. I am hoping things start to return to normal now that I am in the 2nd trimester and supposedly your supposed to feel more normal then.
If you all don't mind too much I might be posting about some quilting, but I strongly believe if you make it through this pregnancy with me, that we will find some knitting on the other end! I plan on taking about 6 months maternity and I'm sure that if Alison can manage to knit with twins AND a new baby, then I can manage some knitting too! Thanks for hanging in there with me. I plan on atempting to podcast as well, when I am able!

Thank goodness you finally revealed. Keeping the secret was HARD. Plus, now the "jinx" is lifted and we can knit baby stuff. I have some Australian wool just for the squirt and I have been waiting for the go-ahead.
The only thing that sucks is not having you for our entertainment purposes at SAFF this year. Can't you hire a nanny? The nanny and the baby could have their own room and you could party with us most of the night. After all the places this baby has already been, I think a fiber fest would be appropriate.

Congratulations!! And don't worry... nothing is normal when your pregnant. You hate foods you normally love and love foods you normally hate. Same goes for activities. So quilt away. But I bet once you peek at some baby yarn and patterns at the LYS, you'll be right back at it!

Oh Pixie - I am so excited for you!! Isn't it amazing how everything changes when you are pregnant?
That is one well-traveled baby. And that's probably what you needed - a little rest and relaxation. Hey, I got pregnant in Hawaii and I swear it was because I chilled out.
All the best to you, hubby and baby Pixie. Don't worry - you'll pick up the needles again soon.....
Vielka says;
Congratulations Miss Pixie!! How exciting for you two. Don't worry about the knitting, I didn't even know how to knit when I was carrying my boy (he's 15 now) and now that I know how my friends have stopped having kids! You'll have plenty of time to create tons of cute knitted baby things once your little one gets here. Take care!
Stalker says;

Congratulations!!! You were in London around New Years, right??? I found out in early January that I'm pregnant as well, so I'll bet we're due around the same time!!! Best of luck! I think I am FINALLY finished with morning (all-day, thank you) sickness after being sick for TEN WEEKS. UGH! I too haven't been bit by the baby knitting bug. I hope I get inspired once we find out what the gender is.
Best of luck and enjoy (sleep as much as you can now!)

Vanessa says;
Congratulations! What a great time in your life! I know that when I was pregnant (4 X) - I knew I would have lots of time to sew, knit , crochet. Well, I have news for you. I couldn't even go near the yarn - the touch, the smell, made me sick - the whole time - not until my children were born could I go back to it. It really was bad for me because that was the time that I had lots of time to knit and things like that. Oh well, maybe it was best for the health of the pregnancy. Our bodies will do things for us naturally. Go with the flow! You will be able to get back to things in time.
wendy says;
Congradulations!!!
You must knit one item for your little one or you'll feel guilty later...trust me on this one.lol
Patricia says;

Jennifer Grobe says;
Congratulations!
I am pregnant myself, and while unlike you I am just getting into knitting (and tend to put it down when I get frustrated), I have had the same symptoms.
I also had very VERY mild morning sickness although I found I was dizzy and tired for much of the time. Knitting seemed to make it much worse.
After about 7 weeks along I had no desire to knit at all. I was slightly panicked looking at my huge stash of alpaca and mohair and other luxury yarn, not to mention all the UFO's with no interest at all. I didn't even want to pet the yarn.
I found out this is fairly common. Now that I am in my 16th week, I find that I am feeling much better, and while clearing out my craft room for the baby, I started cooing over my yarn again. I think I am ready to pick up the sticks :)
