A long weekend
I'm really want to surf the internets at some of my "usual" places I go. I can't because I've already seen one forum thread with a title that could very possibly be a Harry Potter spoiler, if what they said was true and I didn't click on it so I don't know if it was someone jerking around or truly being a spoiler.
I don't know why someone would want to do that to begin with, my husband calls them "greifers" who only get happiness off of other peoples misery. I just think it's such an odd thing to spend your time doing, going around telling people the end to a book before they can get a opportunity to read it, before it's even "out" to the public. I said to myself, why are people so mean? Well I suppose in this world we have all types of people. One friend of my husbands actually e-mailed me a photo of the last page of the book, and didn't even tell me what it was, but luckily I didn't read it because I thought I knew what it was, and this was MONDAY. Later he e-mailed me the URL of a zip file of the whole entire book, each page photograpghed. I wouldn't click the link and I don't think he really understood. First off I want the real book in my hand. I like reading from a real book, not a computer let alone crappy photos of pages. Not to mention that it is illegal anyway, but honeslty even if it wasn't illegal I wouldnt want to. It's just not the same.
So the next two nights are going to be miserable, and that's assuming the book actually arrives saturday via amazon.com, it's supposed to and it said it was getting ready to ship and it was shipping 2-day but I still don't have a tracking number so unless it ships tonight I might not get it until Monday. Worse off the stupid amazon prime requires a signature even if you don't want to sign, so if they come monday I won't be able to sign for it, or really any day next week because of work stuff. So I am wondering and hoping that it comes saturday.
So I am depressed already because I would have to completely block out all tv and all internet if I didn't want to find out for sure, but even then I could find out walking down the hall at work next monday or who knows... so I'm just depressed because I really wanted to enjoy this experience, and after reading that one title on a pregnancy forum of all places I feel like it's already practically ruined.
Sucks. Makes me not even want to knit even.

Oh don't stop knitting,
your copy will arrive soon:)

I hate when people are just plain mean enough to ruin pleasurable stuff for others just to do it. Good luck on your waiting for your edition from Amazon!

I completely understand how you feel. I have tried to shut myself in a little bubble, plugging my ears and singing if the news says the "H" word. Why oh why can't we just enjoy our book? (at least you have one on the way, I'm just going to try my luck at an event tonight.)

Knit the blues away! I have been avoiding anything that might spoil HP. I just dont want to know what happens before I read the entire book.
p.s. did you think that HP:OOTP should have mentioned Nevil and the prophecy? Or even talk about the prophecy? I thought that was a major part they left out and was sad.

I don't have a copy on the way either because I'm hoping to pick one up tomorrow morning somewhere... but I'm already getting nervous about hearing spoilers. I was on a forum during book 6 and ended up having half of that book ruined for me thanks to some jerks... I'm glad no one has sent anything to me yet about the book via email. I hope you're able to read it without spoilers ruining it for you.

I pre-ordered book six from Amazon and it arrived on the day of the release (which I think was also on a Saturday), so I wouldn't be too worried about not getting your book tomorrow. If the spoiler you're talking about is the one on Metafilter, my boyfriend investigated for me (he also likes Harry Potter but doesn't mind spoilers), and he thinks it was just a bad joke and not a real spoiler.

I'm being really, really careful about "where" I go today, and once I've got my book tomorrow? I'm not going near my computer or a television until I've FINISHED! Can't wait . . . 15 more hours until I get my book....

We've had the books in the post office for a few days, but I think the tracking stuff is unavailable for security reasons. They take that very seriously. We're all geared up to be deliver on Saturday.
