Modifications...

Well I got to the i-cord part of the cardi and really hated it, hated how it was knit and attached. So I opted to pick up stitches the whole way around and create a nice little seed stitch band. I like how it knit up acually, I only wish I had planned ahead because I had to do a little clean up at the bottom because the bottom wasn't cast off yet. Kinda messy but I only started around 7pm and finished the whole band, cast off, sewed in all the color changes that had the yarn hanging out and then started a sleeve.

So my Tulip sweater will look a little different from the rest, but that's perfectly okay with me. I think I even like it better. I've never liked i-cord, knitting it or how it looks. I like braids, braids are always pretty for ties etc.

We spent the day putting together more furniture and not much else. The day went by far faster then I would have liked but hey only two more days until the weekend! We stood outside once it got dark and could hear fireworks in all directions. We don't live very far from a lake so we could see some of the big ones going off above it. Next 4th of July I'm going to have a BEER! So it was a very non-eventful holiday for us, and we enjoyed staying in away from the crazy drunk drivers and loads of police officers. The last speeding ticket I got was on the 4th of July actually, I was on my way home from a agility dog show at the park of all things. It's nearly midnight now, off to bed!

The cardie looks great! Love the colours and the modified seed stitch band. Can't wait to see it finished. Happy 4th of July! Although I'm Australian, my husband's American so next 4th of July I'm going to have a beer too. Actually I'll be having some beers way before 4th of July 2008.

I did some searching for other tulips and like your i-cordless version alot. The seed stitch looks perfect, as if it should have been part of the pattern from the begining. What are you going to use for the ties- braids?

I like the mods you made to the cardi. :)

Very creative option! It's beautiful. Different is good.

Very cute sweater!

your seed stitch border is adorable :-)

I love the seed stitch border. I believe that sometimes the i-cord borders found on sweaters... adds a ton of bulk to the look of the sweater. I love the seed stitch though. Good choice!

I love your little knitting fairy! How did you get that!?

The seed stitch looks perfect!
