TV Shows I now love

It's been atleast a year if not longer that I have had any tv shows I truley enjoy watchihng. For the past 3 years it was "Sci Fi Friday" in this house with Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. I also enjoyed those 2 seasons of Making the Band with Aubrey, and then The Girls Next Door was another favorite.

So in the last few months being stuck in bed more, and now being that I just WANT to watch TV a little bit as I get to see very little of it now, I have found some great new shows that I am really enjoying and I wanted to share them with you.

Entourage (HBO) - Wow okay I love this show, you can't mind big time potty mouth or possible nude scenes with this show. The acting is phenominal. Ari Gold is THE MAN. Youtube.com has LOADS of clips of Ari, and he just won an Emmy for his performance on this show. He is just fantastic, it's a great cast. View the "best" of Air Gold. He seems like a horrible person, but when you watch the show you learn he's actually a really gtreat guy. He's probably the only person in "Hollywood" who hasn't cheated on his wife. He is a very unique character but watching the clips I think you would probably think he's a dirt bag, but he's not and you love him and thats whats so great about his charachter. Hug it out bitch! They even have baby Hug it out onsies on the HBO site... it's a cult I think. I actually got these on DVD and sadley finished a season a day, it was THAT good. I should have made it last longer.

Ugly Bettty - This show caught me by suprise, I watched it bored one night and now can't stop watching it. It's actually pretty cute and interesting, and again a good cast.

Life - Brand new show, I really liked it. Has the guy from Band of Brothers (my husband has made me watch that like 3405890385 times). Unique plot. Cop gets put in jail for 12 years, then is found out he is innocent. He collects millions but comes back to be a cop still, or a detective... not 100% sure. I enjoyed it.

House - Can't believe that dude has an english accent, you would never know he was British! Loooove this show. The new season just started.

Bionic Women - Holy crap half the cast of Battlestar Galactica is in this, STARBUCK has a major roll! I had no idea, they should have pushed that in the previews they might have gotten more peopel watching the premier. It was good!

The Office - I jsut got on Netflix the European version of this, I don't like it. I had heard it was better then the American but to me, the boss in the Euro one isn't very lovable, the American one i really like the boss even though he is an idiot, and on occasion he does do something good for the company which gives validity to him having a job. If you have them be idiots all the time then it kind of becomes, yeah right this guy wouldn't have a job at THAT point. But I am biased, I've been watching the American one for several seasons now so I'm sort of hooked. Again, great cast.

So those are my TV reccomendations. I'm not sure I'll catch all the new episodes like I used to be able to, but I watch them when I can. I would like to check out Journeyman, I missed its premier. It looks like Quantum Leap from the 90's. I should set the TIVO up to record all of those shows for me, or hrmm even better I'll ask my husband to do it!

Yarn Harlot is in Atlanta

Well I had signed up to attend in hopes me and baby Sydney could go see her, I heard a rumor people with babies and pregnant women get to go first muhahaha. But alas, baby girl is not even 2 weeks old yet and my peditritian would have a fit if I told him I took her into a room with 700 people, plus I personally don't think it's the wisest thing to do with a newborn! So yeah a week ago I e-mailed knitch and let them to give my spot to someone else... I always wanted to hear her speak to and I'm not sure if she'll come round to the south again in the next decade. Oh well, I get to sit here and listen and look at this all day. I think it's a fair trade:

Her little arms have already gotten longer because her fingers won't stay inside the little protectors on her shirts. Luckily I was able to file her nails a bit before this happend. She's gonna fit in her knits soon I think, not that I am rushing it! I can't wait to get some cute real "FO" shots of the stuff I knit!

Sleepy

I would love to post about baby knits, or even better post photos of some of the lovely hand knit and crochet items I have recieved in the mail! Right now my focus is baby, and myself. I find it hard to focus on myself but everyone keeps telling me I need to eat, I need to rest! I am trying to do those things but mostly I just want to do things for her, like laundry or prepare stuff or whatever. I have to just let it go or ask my husband to do it. I find that hard to do sometimes!

Sleepy Sydney

The big challange has been breastfeeding. Baby girl has a not so fun latch, but boy is she an eater! I have had some low moments with the breastfeeding but after a pep talk form my sister and then a conversation with an LLC leader on the phone today I got back on track and have now done it twice in a row without to much trouble. Lots of this baby stuff is way easier then I thought, and lots of it is way harder. How much I have to focus on healing, and how hard breastfeeding has been, has been frustrating. How easy changing diapers are, and how easy going she seems. Again, I won't compare her to other babies and she's not to be labled hard or easy as a baby overall, but she seems pretty "happy" or something. The crying doesn't bother me like I thought it would. Any other baby cry like at the mall, gives me a headache and annoys the hell out of me, her cry might distress me if I can't fix it, but it doesn't make me aggrevated or angry like other babies cry's.

Daddy Swaddles

So yeah that's all I have for now, there will be photos of baby in her cute knits in the future, hopefully before she grows out of them. I do hope my "big" girl can fit in her pumpkin hat for halloween! Thank you for all the sweet replies to my baby posts!! The knit blogging community is a wonderful place :)

Birthy Story?

By request and for my own memories!

Sydney was born Sept 7th! She weighed 8lbs, is 19 inches long and scored 9/9 on her apgars! I have no idea how she came out so unwrinkly looking, because I was in labor for 24 hours, I was induced with Cervadil at 40 weeks and 3 days. Doc said well we can wait a week but I'm thinking baby could get big. Now I have heard that as a BS excuse for many inductions, but in my case WOW okay 8lbs I think it was a VERY good thing we didn't wait another week... he would have let me if I wanted but omg! She had trouble fitting under my pelvic bone and eventually after 4 hours of pushing the doc got the vacum out and assisted me (or I assisted him? hah). So yeah I expscted her to come out all beat up and swollen or scratched.. she really hardly was swollen at all. Oh stuff you don't want to know, I had an episiotomy and a tear, ouch!

Happy Face!

While I do remember lots of stuff it's also all sort of a blur. Oh and also, Percocet is evil! I'll never touch that stuff again, BAD nightmares! My husband stayed with me the entire time at the hospital, I could not have done it without him, seriously! I think I snapped at him a few times but he said I wasn't mean, hah. I just seriously could never ever have gone through that without him there! I had back labor, and because I was induced all of that made the pain far worse then it would normally be and I got an epidural, and it broke at one point durring the labor and that was when my husband said he thought we would be heading off to a c-section, but I have a great doc and we got it done!

Sleepy Sydney

Oh what else?? Umm I dunno I can't think straight! I'm doing fine but writting a birth story right now well requires far to much organized thought! Hrmm.. breastfeeding has been a challange. First I got beat up, and now that I am all healed... OH that reminds me check this out you sheep geeks;

For you sheep geeks

This stuff helped fix me back up, but now baby Sydney is very particular about how she wants things and I've been bottle feeding her so well I'm not sure what we are doing but we will keep trying! (update as this is taking me short spurts of writting to write!) We had a lactation consult come by the house today and I succesfuly can feed her on my left side now! She isn't a fan of the right side though...

I am innocent!

I didn't talk about my pregnancy on here a lot, so here is the low down for again my own memories and those who are interested. I had a very good pregnancy, I carried her all in the front like a basketball (though trust me I have my mommy marks lot of places lol) and I had very littel bloating. I had a lot of "lightning crotch" which is a funny term some pregnant women use for a certain sensation they get from time to time that feels like someone pinching you in the hoo haa, tmi? muhahaha! Those last 2 weeks I got major back pain I think because she was sunnyside up, which is not how they want the baby to come out, it's more painful with "back labor". It went away after the bedrest but now is back because of having to hold her and stuff. I never had morning sickness, I had some food aversions but no major cravings. I would say the last 4 weeks got the worst, and also work only got more stressful vs less stressful near the end. I think I had a "good" pregnancy, I won't say easy because I think all women would agree being pregnant isn't easy.

Daddy & Sydney

Okay so how are things so far? Well it's only been 4 days that I've been home or something like that. I can't keep a straight train of thought, I can't multitask and right now we are just adjusting! I have to heal and rest, and my husband and I are learning what works and doesn't work for us and I am "enjoying" that proccess. She's a doll, I don't personally compare her very much to other babies. To me she is herself and I don't have any expectations so I'm just going with the flow. I've gotten lots of comments about how alert she was right off the bat, and how pink her skin was and how strong she is. I don't know if she is or she isn't I just know she's a beutiful, healthy girl and all we could ask for! I am one happy momma. No photos of me with her just yet, I'm pretty good and swollen and the photos we have taken of me are set to private on flickr hah, maybe next week I'll put up some of me with her once I pluck my eyebrows and put in my contacts :)

Diaper Duty Dude

Oh and also I never in a million years thought I would ENJOY changing a diaper! She loves being changed, she stops crying immediatly after you get her cleaned up!

tic toc tic toc

So last week I had purchased the 2nd season of Entourage from target. They had sold out of the first. Oh let me rant for a moment. I love itunes but hate how they never seem to have the first season of ANYTHING which is normally what I want! Okay back to this, so I watched the entire season in about 24 hours, which was DUMB because I didn't "make it last" but man I really enjoyed it! I was suprised, so went ahead and ordered season #1 and #3 on amazon.com and I am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. It says it's will arrive at easliest friday, BUT it shipped out from Atlanta so as it says it's been "sent out" I am hoping that I could get it tommorow as I would think by the end of tonight it would be possibly up near roswell or someplace closer to me. Normally when I get stuff shipped I see it sent to roswell and then out to me, which is odd because I'm not terribly close to Roswell.

Yes Georgia has a place called "Roswell" and we also have a place called "Athens" and "Rome" all of which have always amused me. "I'm going to Athens" is always fun to say, it's a cute town too.

I'm working on heel of that twisted sock and I'm happy with it but too lazy to photograph it. Now when I ordered those DVD's i also ordered Amigurumi!: Super Happy Crochet Cute but it's delayed for some reason, and I am so anxious to learn how to count my rounds properly. They say "not to join" and "not to turn" and I have NO IDEA what that means, I need a crochet class BAD! Also because I am horribly bored the husband and I went on Monday to the book store and I picked up Simply Knitting and also a good book called "Snow Crash" or atleast I like it so far. It's a cyberpunk novel which I havn't ever read those sorts of books before and I'm like 1 chapter in and so far I really like the writting style and descriptions.

Oh yeah so back to crochet and "Simply Knitting" (ya still with me here?? lol) it has an adorable crochet "bolero" type jacket and I LURV it I can't find a picture of it online dang it. Now I believe the british crochet terms are slightly different then American... I really want to make this though and it's directions are super simple meaning there isn't much to it! I even think I have stash yarn for it... I think I need a private crochet class or something to get through this though!

Trekking Twist

I'm calling this pattern "The Trekking Twist". Trekking changes colors in such a pretty way that plain old stockinette looks fantastic. So I added a bit of spice with a little twisted cable up each side. I'm using 56 stitches on size US1 needles. It's knit in color #108 which is also called "Muted Rainbow".

Trekking Twist

We have officially entered defcon 40 as of midnight people, geez!
