Crochet Gauge Matters Too!
Well I knew that already but now I have physical proof lol. Thanks to this fantastic video I was able to finally create a Magic Ring with success! The person in the video did something slightly different with their fingers then I have seen before, and it kept it night and tight and clean. More info about how a magic ring compares to "ch 2, sc 8 into 2nd ch from hook" which I was able to do months ago, but hated.
I knew I was using to big a needle (waiting for a set to arrive in the mail), look at how big this is in my hands and then in the book photos:
