tomorrow

Tomorrow I might just get to go be by myself for 5 hours, or well sort of by myself. I have a hair appointment and it's nearly an hour drive there and back, and then it always seems to take 3 hours to do my hair (but he's good so it's worth the wait) so it always adds up to nearly 5 hours. The husbeast is well enough to watch BG while I get my hair done. I know I'll probably start falling asleep halfway through, but it will be some much needed-me-time. I'll bring my knitting, and work on sleeve #2.

I can start to seam if I block the back and the first sleeve...

I have a lot going on right now, I have to make some decisions about work and when I am supposed to return, I'll be in a wedding in about 2 weeks from now, and we will be flying on a plane with BG for the first time. She got better from the flu pretty quickly. She never had a cough or sniffles like the husbeast, but she did indeed have the flu (pedi tested her). Husbeast still sounds scraggly if he talks, but he's on the up and up. I'm very much looking forward to getting my hair done, and I am also excited about taking some weekly indoor swimming lessons with BG hopefully in march and if we like them maybe another class after that. I think this week has been the worst week ever, mostly because I had no one to help me with BG and I had a lot I had to do and take care of.

I had been thinking about getting some professional 6 month pics taken of BG, and then I realized that the price of DSLRs has come down and the amount I would spend on photos nearly the same I could spent on a Canon Rebel XTi, so I ordered one figuring I could take nearly as good as photos, or at-least adequate ones. You know me, I am a gadget geek and I have wanted a Rebel XTi for years now. They are only like $500 now (though a nikon D40 is even less) and my dad is a little pissed I didn't get a nikon. I'm a little annoyed at the lens's available from canon but maybe I just don't understand lens's well enough but I got a really nice one for it but I'm not sure if I should have gotten it now. I got the 28-135 but it seems so huge I am wondering if I made a mistake and should return it. Nikon's apparently have macro/wide-angle lens and I don't think this one I got has wide angle though I thought with 28 it would be. It's very confusing.

Oh, look at that cute little face . . . I can't believe how big she's getting!

Get yourself a 50mm f/1.2 or f/1.4 lens. It's the perfect portrait lens for digital cameras, and you'll be very happy with the pictures you'll get of your beautiful daughter. A very reliable online shop with excellent prices is bhphotvideo.com.

Oh she'll be knitting in now time now.

the cardigan is looking great, and i love BG's little cranberry outfit, so cute! and you took a great picture of her face. check out scoutj (scout's swag) on flickr, she has an XTi and some great lenses for it, including wide angle. i'm sure she could give you some tips.

i can't be of much help, i play for team nikon and shoot a D40x. ;]

So um.... I could totally babysit for you while you're at the wedding.

Syd is so stinkin cute! Did you have any idea how cute she would be? LOL. Were you ever worried about having an ugly baby?

I told my mom, sarcastically, that the reason we haven't got pregnant yet is b/c my eggs know they will produce ugly babies. rofl.

Ok... enough. She is so adorable though!

We own the Rebel xti and LOVE it. We purchased a Sigma 18mm-200mm lenses, which works great. It is a wide range so you don't have to keep changing lenses. Enjoy!

I hope you're having a great day! I can't imagine what 5 hours to myself would feel like! are your boobs going to explode being gone for so long?!?!??!? We are taking our first trip with a plane ride in June. I am already having nightmares about the amount of stuff we'll have to take! Are you planning on taking Mommy and Me swimming lessons?? Let me know details, it's something I've been thinking about too.

The Canon Rebel XTI is lovely! You'll love it. It's way better investment then taking professional photos. BG has gotten so big! Get some sleep whenever you could. The first few month is so hard! Have a great time at the Salon.

My sister has a Canon Digital Rebel XT. She uses a place called lensrentals.com to try out lenses she's interested in, or lenses that she may want to use for a bit, but doesn't need to actually OWN. She praises them highly.

My husband has the EOS 10D which is the next step up from the rebel (though I think they are up to the 40D now) but like the rebel you can use any lens that fits the EOS series from a consumer lens up to professional. We have both a macro and a wide lens ( they are distinctly different lens) both from Tamaron which are great lens that don't hurt the pocket as much as the Canon lens. I personally don't like Nikons too noisy

Enjoy your "me" time. It doesn't happen too often when they are babies.

Baby's first plane ride - how exciting! I bet she will be a good little traveler.

And yeah - you can take great photos yourself. A much better investment to buy a camera instead of insanely priced portraits.

This may be too late but, I just got a Nikon D40x and I LURV it. Great shots PLUS Nikon has never changed it's lens mount so any and all Nikon lens fit onto the current camera bodies.

Great shots of the baby, btw. She's so darn cute!
