6 Months

BG turned 6 months on friday! I have been waiting for 6 months because a lot of new stuff happens. I felt comfortable to try ferber once she reached 6 months, and I have given her rice and oatmeal a few times in the past 2 weeks but this week we got to try some Butter Nut Squash which she seemed to really eat up last night!

So last night we began ferberizing her. My husband says we have never 'really' tried it before but at 4 months we did, just not as easily as this time. I think it just went better and thats why he thinks we didn't do it right the first time. I also think she wasn't ready at that point.

I didn't want to wait to long, and I felt like she really needed to learn how to self sooth. 6 months is a nice age, not to young and not to old to be all pitiful and start saying stuff like "no tired" or something even if she is tired. Some people will do ferber at 4 months, but all babies are different and I think some are not ready that young.

So last night I slept in our bed, for the first time in maybe like 3 months or something like that. I made it until 4am and then co-slept for the last 4 hours. She only ate once, and woke up only at 2am and 4am so i think we did really good. We also ferberized her for her first nap which she made it 1.5 hours and her evening nap she only made it half an hour but I didn't have the heart to keep making her cry, half an hour was better then nothing. She still doesn't have the hang of it and has cried each time. 3 minutes, 5, 10 and then 15. She always falls asleep durring the last 5 minutes of the 15 minute period. I hope it doesn't take too many times for her to start picking up on whats going on and crying for shorter periods of time before going to bed, that's supposed to be what they do. I have heard about it taking one night (clearly not the case for us) to a few nights to an entire week. I hope she catches on quicker then that.

Today she started saying "Bwaaa Bwaa" which is very cute and for some odd reason she seems more independent today with her toys and I'm not sure why. She also seems to finally be rolling tummy to back again after having stopped a while ago after a few bonks on the head. No idea why this all coincided with the ferber stuff, could just be coincidence.

I returned the Rebel XTi and got the Nikon D80 which I have not learned how to use so some of my photos are crappy, I'm also waiting on the better low light portrait lens which I know will take better photos. I have a cute dress to put on her for some "6 month" photos so I can't wait to do that.

Hey, maybe I'll get to podcast again soon now that I might have some evening hours to myself!!! I didn't know what to do with myself last night. I put on discovery channel and ate some chips lol!

I LOVE seeing her pictures! She really is a beautiful baby girl! I love this age, they are reacting to everything and discovering so much all at the same time. And you don't have to chase them yet too! Sounds like you are doing good with the ferberizing (sic?), good luck with the patience end of it.

It's so hard when you are going through the ferber thing but, it won't be too long and will be so much better for her. Just keep reminding yourself of that when you feel like the worse mom in the world to leave her crying.

She'll be OK though. Promise. I remember when we did it with DS and it was so hard for me that sometimes I sat outside his room and cried along with him as I watched the clock ready to pounce in there the moment the time was up. Funny thing was that about 1 1/2 week into it I realized that I didn't have to set the timer a second time and he was laughing. It was a happy/sad moment but well worth the better sleep!

Good luck to you. Hang in there!

Awww what a cutie pie!!

Happy Six Months BG! We celebrated Satya's today. It's amazing how quickly the time goes by and how much they're doing right now, huh? I feel like Satya started doing a bunch of new things this week as well. Best of luck with the Ferberizing....

Happy 6 mmonths to the cutie pie!

She is so adorable! I'm glad you got some good solid sleep...hang in there. :)

Hi, just a long time lurker (GAWD that sounds so stalkerish). I am/was a listener to your Podcast and have happily read your blog since you were expecting little Miss Pixie. I always enjoy reading your posts and reading your excitement with each new step Little Miss Pixie makes. She is just adorable I must say. Anyways, I just wanted to say that I think your a really good mom. Not personally knowing you or anything, we do have the motherhood bond thingy and having my last child (Miss Priss LOL) who is now 4, I know how sometimes, trying hard to do everything right and keeping a hold on the house, the bills, the food, the hubby and mommyhood, it's nice to know that others do see your doing GREAT, even if the "others" are strangers:)
Happy 6 Months baby!!

Hard to believe it's already been 6 months. I hope you both start getting sleep soon =) one way or another.

Yay for six months! She is beautiful!

You'll need to do a review of your new camera. We just bought a Pentax K10D, but it was down to the Pentax or the Nikon. I went with Pentax for the image stabilization - I just can't seem to get a clear shot unless I'm using a tripod without it. However, I'd love to hear about the Nikon. 'Cause "I got a Nikon camera I'd love to take your photograph..." 8-)
