Yarn Harlot at Knitch Atlanta
So I finally made it to the Yarn Harlot! I even got my book signed too! I have wanted to see her for a long while now. I missed her last time because I had just had BG and it just didn't work out. THIS time the husbeast was still recovering and I would have liked to have gone alone so I could actually knit, but BG and I had a blast.
By the time I actually got to the signing part to meet the Harlot herself (lookit - we are on her blog how cool!), I was kind of out of it, sweating and tired. This is what happens when I have BG alone and go someplace for more then a few hours (wimp!). BG was SO super fantastic, she didn't fuss ONCE. She even fell asleep while Stephanie spoke and slept until the big roaring applause at the end that woke her up. I couldn't have been happier. I got all confused and tired near the end and left the theater and went to Knitch and then had to return to the theater for the book signing and left the book I got in the bathroom. As there are so many lovely and honesty people in the world when I came back later it had been turned in to the front sales desk. I actually was to tired to go BACK to Knitch to the theater, and then back to Knitch (even though it wasn't far but I had baby in tow) so I bought a second book. Is that sad? I'm going to give it to Meeko as a present and she has sent BG loads of presents so i think she deserves it and it makes it a little less sad that I bought it twice.
So when I met the Harlot, I hardly said anything. I had meant to tell her how much I loved reading all about her adventures in the woods at the cabin, and how that made me want to buy some of her books. I actually have followed her blog for years, but had never gotten a book. I have a thing about books for knitting, I could buying YARN with that money! So I avoid buying books unless I like a lot of the patterns. So then I read some EZ books and realized I really enjoyed the stories a LOT and now I want to get all the Yarn Harlot books. I was very inspired by her cabin in the woods entries on her blog. So yeah, what did I say to her? I mentioned there is a Star-gate movie on DVD. I mentioned the top BG was wearing was my first pattern. That was all I could think to say. Not, "oh I love your blog" which would have been nice, or even anything more entertaining or interesting. In fact it was sort a blur by that point. She was SO nice though and had some fun with BG and even took her photo.
Her talk was great, she talked about all this cool Theta Brain Wave stuff that had me totally intrigued and I heard her tell the women in front of me in line that she likes Battlestar Galacatica. She has gained like one trillion coolness points. I very much enjoyed seeing her and meeting some new knitters. BG was just too perfect for words and I think I need to appreciate her good behavior more then I do! The Harlot was great, however I think she might be a Cylon.
Oh and I have to add that Knitch did a fantastic job. They had a full army of people helping out and working. I was very impressed by the entire event! Everyone loves Knitch!
