my first shoulder seams

So I sewed the same on my first sweater! Well the shoulder seams... I picked up stitches and took them off holders for the neck. I'm to tired at the moment to knit the 6 inches of ribbing for the neck collar.

WOOT tho I did it, I dunno if I did it right, but it looks right. I have to say doing socks before this was a good idea. I think I have learned how to avoid holes.

Toby says, "It's the last sleeve!"

I finished that first sleeve last night, and cast on tonight for the next. I am almost to the end of the ribbing, then onward to an endless sea of st st. Who knows, I could be seaming by sunday!

I am feeling headachy for girlish reasons this evening and can't seem to do much of anything but lay in bed and moan at my husband. Tonight is a wash.

The sad thing is..

I could have had the entire sleeve knit by now... I was thinking to myself, how weird this sleeve is only increasing on one side, that doesn't seem like it would be best.

Thank goodness for good instincts (aka common sence). So this means I'll have to start over for a 4th, yes that's right, 4th time. This time I was not increasing on both sides, or as the pattern said "each side" ehem..

I had to document atleast one of my mess ups.. proof to you that I have indeed worked on it, SEVERAL TIMES!!!

I purchased some cute new PJ's from Target when I stopped to get trashbags. I got my husband a mouse (wireless/optical), cause he got me roses today. One good deed deserves another! I'll post a pic of the roses cause I have to document my husband getting me roses, cause well it's a special event! It has little raindeer on it.

Before I cast on for fitz's sleeve I need something different to knit on before I go mad from noro. I'm gonna work on a baby alpaca scarf for my mother.

In other news, most of the furniture is sitting in the living room, we are still waiting on the coffee table(aka trunk) from peir 1 to come in, and the extra special knitting chair. I need to clean the bedroom and paint it and get a new comforter.. so much to do.. and all I want is to knit..

It's monday again...

Sorry no photos to show atm..

Keeping a blog really makes me aware of how many days we have in the week, as I struggle with titles for entries on mondays and saturdays. Those two days I seem to have the least creativity for titles. Maybe because on monday I'm thinking, "Ah gee wiz it's monday again.." and on saturday I am thinking "heck yeah man it's saturday!" so that seems to not leave much room for anything else.

This weekend I cast on for the sleeves, I opted to do 1 at a time sence it's my first sleeve. Probably best I did. I had to frog it twice. First time I was about 8 inches into the sleeve and I increased wrong. For one thing it was my first time increasing on an actual project, and I also read the pattern wrong. I increased every row for about 4 inches after the ribbing and as it turned into a triangle I realized.. agh crud. I was supposed to increase every 4th row.

So I frogged back to nearly the ribbing and went another 4 inches. It was past midnight, I should have known better. It looked like crud because the first time I frogged I didn't frog far enough. Ribbit, Ribbit. So in total I frogged 8 inches, and with a sleeve that only had to be 16, that was half the work out the window. So now I am back at about 6 inches or so. Being wise and taking my time, and it looks much nicer to.

Also if I inc 1 st at the end of every 4th row, arn't I always increasing on the same side?? Won't that be weird??

The pup kept stealing my sheep measuring tape. I hide it in my knitting bag and the dog stuck his skinny nose into the bag when I was in the bathtub, snuck it out without disturbing the bag or the sweater half that it was under. There I found the sheep in the middle of the floor, looking very dead. It still works tho, but the fur is all matted and he looks like a sheep with a mohawk.

Whut Whut

I have just bound off the front of fitz and rolled my next skein of noro in preperation for the "sleeve island" as everyone effectionatly (?) calls it. Woot Woot!! How much ya wanna bet that I can finish one sleeve this weekend? First tho, math! My arm is 10 inches at the top and 5 at the wrist.. (gets her calculator out)...

The front so far:

Detail of front, I totally love the little alternate purl 2 ribbing on the inside edge of the v-neck.

Next it says: Dec 1 st at the neck edge of the next and every foll row until there are 26st left.

Which is the neck edge? Both sides? Does following row mean every other, or every? I got no brain.

More Fitz's..

Welp I am just about to the underarms on fitz, well I am at the shoulders I mean, but I am to tired to count and make sure I am on the exact correct row.

Woot woot! Home Stretch!

hrmm..

My thoughts of silk garden are still fairly negative. In the front of the sweater so far I have found two knot ties (breaks I suppose) in them, thats 2 out of 3 balls, and I know I remember 1 on the back at least.

I see all these pretty noro colorways in blogs, this one dark purple one with grays and blacks, and another that seems to be various shades of blue.

I don't think I'll ever buy silk garden again, but maybe some of the cheaper ones. It's simply not at all worth $11 a skein for how much it has in it and for the quality, and I don't think I'm into varitated yarns enough to fancy it.

Me and the Mr. went and got some more furniture today, cheaper stuff then before so we could save some money. We got stuff from Peir 1 for the living room. Last night we went to his parents house for a party and it was nice. As ushual his mom stresses me out a bit, I felt like our relationship was better before the wedding. I hate that she seems hostile towards me sometimes.

No soup for you

Well I finished the whole entire back to fitz while watching the debates last night. Go me!! yeah!! My next goal is to finish the front by next friday.

I wanted to take a pic today with my new techie toy but it won't let me email the pics to myself.. so here is a pictureless entry for ya.

I have been reading "Civilization & Its Discontents" by Freud. It's a very interesting book and not as hard to read as I thought it would be (however it has its moments), I find that reading about half a chapter at a time while in the bath makes it easier to understand and take it. I thought it was kinda neat that he breifly mentioned yoga and about how when you are doing yoga your kind of going back to when you where a child and the focus is on your body and its needs vs on the world around you and complex emotional issues.

Good stuff!

I'm having a fitz, a fitz I tell you!

Looky thar, I even cast off the 5 sts on the left and right side and now have 8 inches to go till I'm done. I did 5 inches last night so I'm figuring it will take me 2 more nights.. my poor hands are gonna fall off!

I was reading UrbanGypZ's blog yesterday and she mentioned going to yoga and I thought.. gee that sounds like a good idea. So tonight I'll be going to my first ever yoga class! weeeeeee!!

My company has the WEIRDEST carpet you have ever seen!

Altering Fitzgerald

I am a 32/34" bust and here are my alterations to the pattern. Numbers in () are the old numbers for the smallest size. I only typed out the parts that I changed. I am giving myself the reccomended 4-6" of ease for a pullover which will make this 38" when completed vs. the 48" for the smallest size given.

Back:
Cast on 86 stiches (110)
Back should measure 13" (16")
Armohole Shaping:
Cast off 4 stitches (5) w/ 82 st left (100)
Shape Shoulders:
Cast off 26 (30)
Leave 30 (40)
Front:
Work until 2" (4")
Shape Left Neck:
Knit 41 (50)
Measures 5.5" (7")
p7 (p10), slip 9 (12)
Dec until 26 (30)
Armohole measures 8" (9.5")

Sleeves:
I won't know how many to cast on till I use the completed front/back to see how I want it to fit, but with the body changes you want to build up to 72 st (96 st) and I'm going to measure till about 16" and then cast off 4 (5).

It took us about an hour to figure all that out..

Swatch-buckler

18 stiches for a 4in swatch b'iatch! I seem to always be on gauge so it must be a good sign for my knitting. I already have a redness on my index finger from knitting the swatch. What in the world am I going to do to keep from getting a blister??
